CHICAGO (WLS) -- Chicago has been ranked the number one city in the world by Time Out magazine's City Life Index.
It is the second year in a row that Chicago tops the list. The index measures 32 cities based on a survey of 15,000 people. Cities were scored by food, drink, culture, friendliness, affordability, happiness and livability.
Time Out gave Chicago top marks for food and drink and also scored well for happiness, culture, affordability and city and neighborhood pride.
Top 10: 1. Chicago 2. Porto 3. New York
4. Melbourne 5. London 6. Madrid 7. Manchester 8. Lisbon
9. Philadelphia 10 Barcelona
"This year's Time Out City Life Index reveals the urban hotspots that are unbeatable right now, and the detailed results provide a fascinating look at how people make the most of city life in 2018. Chicago, Porto, NYC, Melbourne and London are this year's top five-a list that shows how different, diverse and unique great cities can be. They really should be on everyone's travel bucket list for this year, along with many other cities in our global ranking," said TimeOut citylife editor James Manning.

Philly?
Is this satire?
But stay out of the south side.
ROTFL. Oooookay.
Do high taxes, out of control crime and poor schools make a place livable?
...Said no one (sane) ever!
More like “Time Out of Your Mind” magazine.
It was down to Chicago or Mogadishu for the number one spot.
Great city = a major chance of being shot and killed??
Small towns are looking better than ever ... at least you can stay alive
Black history month...
3 cities in 1 country, 2 cities each in 3 countries, and 1 city in 1 country. There research doesn’t seem very diverse.
ugh, their not ‘there’
Chicago...Chicago....DUCK!!!
got to be satire
I grew up in various burbs around Chicago and it had many things to recommend it, but democratic control, labor unions, teacher unions have bankrupted the city and state, schools. It is no place to be now.
Is this from the Onion or Mad Magazine?
I can totally agree with this article after spending tons of time in Chicago over a 2 summers about 10 years ago.
Avoid the bad areas and you will find great restaurants, cool little neighborhoods, easily bikable streets, even a swimmable beach.
Time Out?
Must be a homo publication.
It was a wonderful city in which to grow up. Midwestern friendliness everywhere. Good schools in my day. Parks kept immaculately clean with wondrous views of a lake that was so different in all weather. Museums that were the pride of the world. Old Town and restaurants that I haven’t found the like of since. My grammar school’s 50th reunion took a bus tour of our school with, I hear, a police escort. I can’t bring myself to go back, but the memories are so very strong. And I still love those memories.
