I have worn one six or seven days a week for over 40 years. Five work days, Sunday, and maybe going out to dinner on Saturday. The only break was on vacation when I refused to even pack a tie in case there was some event that may require one to be worn.

But none were wearing ties. Why?

Well, it was a rock and country music festival, so ties would have been out of place. It also apparently took place in southern Texas, so I imagine it was pretty warm and muggy - ties would have just made the climate more uncomfortable for a group of older men.

The ties were all confiscated at the door, as this was declared a "no-tie" concert.   Later, the confiscators did not remember which tie belonged to which ex-president, so they still have them.   Here they are.
