Why was he stealing those? Doubt if they were worth much as scrap.
The fact he died while getting away with his worthless stash is priceless.

The Explorer overturned and Wilkins was ejected, he said. Plates were scattered over the area.
Sounds like Wilkins was also scattered over the area.

A lot of scrap yards will not accept anything railroad related.

Yep, Tarris Lamont died in the commission of a crime of worthless scrap. What’s up with that? Was it worth it?

Hmm. Soo, if you’re going to overload your Exploder with 2000 pounds of stolen railway plate...
Wear a seat belt.

I read a story a few years ago where a guy chains a large chunk of rail to the back of his car and dragged it to the scrap yard thinking nobody would notice the 3” deep gouge in the asphalt.

How can one transport something if it’s missing?

The penalties for screwing with railroad tracks are very severe.

You'd be surprised how much time and effort these guys put into procuring scrap. They'd be better off finding a job that pays 12 bucks an hour.........

You demonstrate the qualities of a great thinker.
