Tasty is not what I call it. I can imagine nothing more personally horrible than giving up; which is what he did; and finding that it was not only worthless to do so, but now common knowledge that you gave up.
The internal guilt and external censure would be horrendous.

Shane, an ending which spawned a thousand knock-offs.

I love the ending of Amadeus where Salieri sees Mozart die penniless and obscure but we see 40 years later that Salieri the famous imperial court composer in his day has become the really obscure one as Mozart has the last “laugh” musically.

Now...stop distracting me. Your favorite movie ending sir.”
That’s ma’am to you, sir. Oh all right, favorite movie ending: Gone With The Wind, of course. “I’ll think about it tomorrow,” says Scarlett O’Hara. That’s my motto in life too. See you on FR tomorrow....

You have my vote. “Blade Runner” is an excellent movie that follows the book fairly well in concept but the visuals in the movie take a few liberties that are IMHO very appropriate.
Phillip K Dick was one of the giants in the science fiction genre.

wardaddy - obscure reference, but one of my all time favorites - "F$$k the bonus!"
Vince - agreed. Great ending to "The Departed"
And, of course, the end of the original "Dirty Harry" (Do you feel lucky, punk?)
