The beginning ties right into the end, it’s a amazing time loop of ~1900-1970.
I agree, the film starts out with a disturbing ringing that goes unanswered but that is part of the central plot.
The ending is the best I’ve ever seen and leaves you blown away in your seat...
The music is also superb, by Ennio Morricone and is timeless...
