A famous feature near the summit of Mount Everest, known as the Hillary Step, has collapsed, potentially making the world's highest peak even more dangerous for climbers. Last year, pictures appeared to show a change in shape to the 12-metre rocky outcrop, named after Sir Edmund Hillary, the first person to scale the mountain. It is thought to have been destroyed in Nepal's 2015 earthquake, but snow coverage made the news hard to confirm. British mountaineer Tim Mosedale confirmed the collapse after he reached the summit this week. "It's official The Hillary Step is no more," he said in a Facebook post. "Not sure what's going to happen when the snow ridge doesn't form because there's some huge blocks randomly perched hither and thither which will be quite tricky to negotiate."

And remember kids, who was the step named after? Not the famous mountaineer, that’s fer sure.
Well, that’s it — I’m canceling my climb.
Or was her story that Sir Edmund Hillary was named after her? Hard to know which of her lies was more outlandish!
well she didn’t do a very good job at that either!
I wish my life were so care-free as to fret over a mountain crumbling to the sea.
Two Hillary losses in about 2 years.
Hillary ought to quit while the quitting is good.
I don’t really see that much difference but that there is now a ‘4b’ which I don’t quite understand.
But I do think it’s ‘a sign’.
I do wonder what would have happened if she had done that in a white or pale pantsuit ....
The two photos are quite confusing as they were taken from different distances, but I guess just below "4A" is where the Hillary step used to be.
Brian Williams was there when it broke apart.
“Brian Williams was there when it broke apart.”
Dan Rather has Brian’s notes on the trip.
lol. Speaking of which, he’s replacing Lawrence O’Donnell?
Pretty bad when they don’t spell either the man’s name or the feature correctly.
(Hint: it’s 1 “l”)
I dont really see that much difference but that there is now a 4b which I dont quite understand.
But I do think its a sign.
You are absolutely right, even if the jokes write themselves.
1. Everest: highest peak on the planet; POTUS, highest office on the earth
2. Hillary had made some claim about being named after Sir Edmund Hillary, and this step really *was* named after him
3. 2015 Nepal EQ: 25 April 2015 (6 Iyar on the Hebrew calendar)
Compare:
April 12, 2015 Former Secretary of State Hillary Clinton formally announces her candidacy for the presidential nomination of the Democratic Party
And:
Iyar 6 War of Independence (1948)
One day after the State of Israel was proclaimed (see Jewish History for the 5th of Iyar), the surrounding Arab nations -- Egypt, Syria, Jordan, Lebanon and Iraq --declared war on the fledgling state, with the objective of "driving the Jews into the sea." Tel Aviv was bombed on that very first day of the War of Independence
Also, there is a word play on Nepal, because the Hebrew word n-p-l (נפל, naphal) is the word/root meaning [to] fall.
That's just off the top of my head, so there's probably a lot more then.
Hillary is fallen, fallen. And the Establishment she rode in on.
“Step”
My Dear Mother, may she rest in peace, despised Hillary way back when she was running for NY Senator (and suddenly bought property there to be an official resident of that state.) Mom said, way back then “Just wait. She’s going to run for president. This NY Senator stuff is just a stepping stone for her!”
I miss my mom. She was very perceptive about people.
Hillary, falling to the one who really *is* from NY. And this being confirmed just ahead of his arrival to Israel.
Poor Hillary, shades of Wile E. Coyote. All those ACME investments, yet...
Russia’s fault.
