“My main worry about him is Columbia, Harvard and Oxford.”

Share your concern about all-ivy court. Equally as worried about ultra-liberal Boulder County, ultra-liberal church, and globalist quagmire CFR. Find it hard to believe an actual conservative would sign on for any of that.

That said, he appears to be a genuine friend of the 4th amendment which is something that’s been sorely lacking from SCOTUS for a long time. He also has a background in anti-trust litigation.

Time will tell because he’s pretty much a lock at this point.

No. Cruz’s man-crushes, from GW to Rand Paul, have proved disastrous.

That's a good point. Bears repeating what I said earlier - While I would be concerned that his church affiliation may inform his world view, (and not necessarily his view of the Constitution) his book does not bear that out that I have seen. This is what is said about his book:

"The Future of Assisted Suicide and Euthanasia provides the most thorough overview of the ethical and legal issues raised by assisted suicide and euthanasia--as well as the most comprehensive argument against their legalization--ever published."

That does not reconcile with his religious affiliation so I don't think affiliation is in play when it comes to his world view. I can almost guarantee that this very issue will end up before the court . That's the slippery slope we are heading towards and this is the right person to be on the court when it comes to, at least, that issue. And the view of the sanctity of human life is a key role here when thinking of Roe vs. Wade as well.

Cruz boasted how good of his pick was, right? Shouldn’t he know?

I’d like to know his views on the Heller, Obergefell, and ACA cases, as well as stare decisis.

Cruz’s choices over the past year are terrible.

Cheating in Iowa. “Voting your conscience” with Hillary retweeting you during Trump’s RNC convention. Not stating you were born in Canada until after elected Senator? Writing Bush’s Amnesty position papers but calling yourself Tea Party?
Attacking Sarah Palin for endorsing Trump?

Bleah.

You saw a defense where there was none.

Are you not disheartened and demoralized by the necessity of Trump to characterize the courts in this way?

Hopefully it will now be our great fortune to take steps to steer the system back toward its proper course. It is not clear to me that Gorsuch's comments were a criticism of Trump. It can just as well be understood as a criticixm of an out of control judicial system.

I, like Gorsuch, look forward to a time when such criticism of the courts might be unthinkable. For now that is not the case.

How about naming Carly Fiorina as his Vice Presidential running mate, when he’d lost in the primaries?

And why did Cruz give Carly $500K before that? And what was that DNC Air Force One plane ride before the RNC convention all about?

Cruz and his GOPe handlers coughRovecough just can’t give up his Tea Party mask.

(And that’s all it was: a mask)

You left out the very crippled Supreme Court. Gorsuch might return the Court to its state prior to Scalia's demise, but he can do no more than that.

The half of the Court which believes that it is their job to improve on legislation rather than simply ensure that the government is properly constrained, will still be in place.

Also, I am not familiar enough with the other Circuits, but I believe there are plenty of mistaken decisions from them that could benefit from proper guidance from the Supreme Court.

The president doesn't really know Gorsuch, though I'm sure that they've talked.

Somehow, I don't don't believe that Gorsuch is that devious. He is his own man and we'll just have to see what develops.

Did he REALLY say what is being reported? I doubt it/hope not; however, Roberts ( and others ) may have looked good on paper, but turned out to be POS.

From your link:

It seems that some Republicans think Gorsuch was just hoping to kiss-up to Dem senators, while some Dems say the judge's nose is still not brown enough.

Because he lives in Boulder Colorado! If you don’t know about Boulder, it isn’t called the Republic of Boulder for nothing and there are reports that the church he attends is full of leftist. I would bet he is a closet liberal.

I don’t read too much into his alleged statement. That is, if he did say so in those words. Blumenthal is not a fount of purity. Trump is not one to have a filter on what he tweets or says. Does it rub some the wrong way? Yup. I suspect Gorsuch would stick up for the general sensibilities of his profession. So far, the majority of Trump’s picks have been acceptable. There has been no huge backlash from real conservatives in the Trump orbit over Gorsuch. If the judge had any deficiencies I am sure folks would have heard of them, and not from a POS like Blumenthal only.

Simply put: Episcopalians today tend to be very liberal. Being an Episcopalian by itself is not necessarily a sign that someone holds left-wing views. But attending a liberal church for years is definitely a bad sign and makes it unlikely that Gorsuch will be the second coming of Scalia.

I too was very skeptical when I became aware of the church this fella attends...Birds of a feather flock together...I would really question his views on Israel and like to know his position on Izlam and the one world religion (world council of churches, etc)...

“finds it necessary”

This is a key participle phrase.

I too find it disheartening and demoralizing that the president is forced to target the court system. They need a lake superior size swamp draining.
