Malia Obama already has one hell of an entry level job as the Weinstein Company's newest intern -- she's picking and choosing scripts to pitch to execs ... TMZ has learned. Our Weinstein sources tell us Malia started work Monday and she's ensconced in the production/development department ... reading through scripts and deciding which ones move on to Weinstein brass. We're told Malia's internship will run through the Spring. Weinstein gets lots of scripts from top screenwriters and unknowns alike, with good reason -- the company produced some of Hollywood's most decorated films over in the last decade ... like "The King's Speech," "The Artist," "Shakespeare in Love," "Silver Linings Playbook," "Django Unchained," and "Good Will Hunting." As we've reported ... Malia brushed up on her film aesthetic last week at Sundance ... which she chose to attend on her own time before the internship. One last thing ... we've learned she's getting paid, even though it's probably around $9/hour. Still a sweet gig for the former prez's kid ... and it beats running coffees any day.
Those were Weinstein's Oscar winners with Miramax. Since then the new company, The Weinstein Company, has won with Chicago and The King's Speech. They also had a hand in making The Artist or bringing it to America.
The Weinsteins probably have a lot of people reading scripts for them. Young Obama's probably only one of many. A president's kid is a curiosity, somebody to show off to Hollywood people who are impressed by that sort of thing. Harvey's not going to have her making coffee for him. But that doesn't mean she's running the company.
Its the story of a young girl who works as a welder in your subway system. But dreams of becoming a Modern Interpretive Dancer.
Rodney Dangerfield had a skit where he was a dancer who dreamed of being a welder. Never made it into a movie.
As opposed to her Sister, Sharia.
Money laundering already
All three of them?
Gee what a co-winky-dink!
I had an interest in the film industry, back in the day. Between the ages of 14 and 24 I could call a hit that hadn’t been greenlighted, had been green lighted or had just been released with very high accuracy. I took this skill for granted but it fell off as I got older.
yes, that’s what I’m saying...
And I said it on so few words- it took you SO MANY to say the EXACT SAME THING I was saying. I bet youre sure smart to be able to do that. That 1 or two sentences and expand them into ALL THESE OTHER THINGS i was actually SAYING!!!
Good job.
What am I saying here? ~~> :P
A Bollywood company tried to shoot a movie in Grand Central Terminal but all the Indians were crowding around to watch, in spite of pleas from the moviemakers to go away. They had to move it to another city, Philly I think, and pretend it was Grand Central.
Then again, Spacey's all right on the scene. Not sure I'd like to be around him in person.
So, maybe I'd crowd for Aishwarya Rai, or even Archie Panjabi.
Nah. Couldn't be bothered to stand around for Daryl Hannah back in the 1980s when a coworker and I just happened to cross the street into a film shoot.
No, you didn't say that. You said to leave her out of things until she does something stupid on her own. Oooh, I used "SO MANY" more words than you did. You got me there. Uh, huh. Bad on me. Not words but I used 275 characters with spaces vs. your 272. Wow, 3 key stokes over you.
Marine Jahan was Jennifer Beals’ body double for the dancing scenes. Jahan was kept hidden from the press because the filmmakers did not want to ruin the illusion. Alex’s leap through the air in the audition scene was done by gymnast Sharon Shapiro and the break-dancing was done by Crazy Legs.(a guy!)
When I took the Sound of Music tour in Salzburg the guide said no wonder Maria is late and tired when she returns to the abbey at the start of the movie. The field where she sings in the opening is a huge distance from it.
