How about a little sanity break from the politics and mayhem?

Wow, Wow, wow! What beauty, and some think it “just happened”. The eagle is a glorious thing to behold.

Wingspans range from 6 to 7 feet, some more.

Rock-paper-scissors anyone?

Golden Eagle! One of my favorite sightings.

Saw about 30 this year, but NEVER that close! Haha!

Thanks for that pic!

First trip to Alaska, I looked forward to seeing my first eagle, in the wild. Driving down the Kenai, I spotted one so far away, he looked like a black pinhead through my long lens; stopped and took pixs anyway. Tavel mates urged me to *hurry up*. The sky opened up with a rain squall, so we got back in the car and around the next bend, couldn't believe what we found...

I almost had a heart attack.

The mourning doves are precious with their sweet eyes. That’s the weird thing about their spats. They just don’t seem like the type to argue. Must be a married couple? ;)

Have you seen this video, of a golden taking down a mountain goat? A net classic.

Dinner is served.

I don’t know. Mine are quite peaceful. Except that odd couple.

This year they discovered if they feed under the thistle feeder, with the seed droppings from the messy goldfinces. Cute to watch.

I was so shocked to find out that Swampsniper had died. How very sad. He gave me much pleasure with his amazing bird pictures.

Wow! No, I have not seen that. Impressive.

Golden Eagles also attack and take down adult pronghorn!

Let's be happy that we're at the top of the food chain.

We are, aren't we...?

And we thought it was funny to catch the raccoons polishing off the crumbs by night or sitting in the bird bath. The turkeys though, now that scene was just too cute for words.

Most of our goldfinches took off but at least a few have remained to keep spilling the thistle for the doves. :)

Swampsniper is deservedly truly missed.

I don’t have any current birding photos, since Hurricane Sandy busted up my favorite birding place, Jamaica Bay Wildlife Refuge, 2 years ago. But I really enjoyed these photos. Thanks.

Sometimes in the pigeon/dove world there are ‘triangles’, with a single bird trying to move in and steal a mate away.

Mine too; a few 4-6 stay. Love my birdies!

My hummies left about a month ago...that always signals sadness in my soul , until the anticipation of spring.

I hope they avoided the hurricane in their migration. I worry about this stuff, as if they are my children.

I’m suspecting *incest*, to be frank.

As if the older male is fighting off an offspring.

Deus ex machina needed in this little Oedipus Rex chaos at the bird feeder. :)

LOL!

We had one little hummer who kept coming to the feeder for a long time after the others had gone. He finally left around the 29th of Sept. - they’re usually all gone by the 15th. I was getting worried about him.

That’s b/c your nectar is so good. :)

At the end of the season, I usually add about 1/4 cup more sugar in their nectar to give them a little boost for their long trip.

I worry about them. Needlessly.
