An 8-year-old refugee from Congo died Tuesday after landing at Chicagos OHare International Airport.
David Dieme, an 8-year-old boy landed Tuesday at approximately 4:30 p.m. with a refugee family at OHare International Airport.
Dieme was traveling with his father and several other children, who arrived to Chicago on a flight from Dubai. After clearing paperwork, the family was being escorted to their next flight, when a U.S. Customs and Border Protection officer noticed Dieme unresponsive.
Emergency Medical Services was immediately notified and arrived at the terminal. Standard procedures are in place to address sick passengers, a spokesman for the Centers of Disease Control and Prevention. Dieme was sick prior to the flight, but did not report any symptoms on the flight. He was examined at the airport by CDC officials, in an isolated room. Diemes temperature was taken, but he had no fever. He experienced diarrhea and vomiting. It was determined he should be taken to the hospital.
Dieme was taken to Presence Resurrection Medical Center, where he was pronounced dead

U.S. Customs and Border Protection is deeply saddened with the situation. The family was passing through Chicago and planned to settle in Texas.
The Cook County Medical Examiner is currently gathering additional information at this time. An autopsy was performed Wednesday, with results pending.
Drug courier? I hate to suggest that for a kid, but customs wouldn’t pay any attention to kids.
Yeah, and the head of the CDC once said “You can’t catch the ebola virus from coughing.”
So they performed an autopsy the same day? How the heck can they know that?
I would be more likely to suspect dehydration from a stomach virus, especially after a long flight with little fluids.
How could they rule out disease so quickly???
probably because he didn’t have a fever.
Normally, that takes six weeks to get the tests back. You probably have some Chicago CDC player who just noted that the kid was not bleeding out of his nose or mouth, and none of the obvious things.
Eight year old kids just don’t up and die; there had to be something going on with the child and then too, how did the CDC person know what caused the death right there in the airport(?)
They know, just like BJ Clinton knew that TWA800 was not a terrorist attack about the same time that the remnants of the plane hit the water.
Why don’t I mourn this? Has my heart hardened to the point where I see only one less parasite on the public welfare system? When I die, I think I’ll have some ‘splaining to do...
Thanks, Obola.
My tagline is still holding true.
Oh, hell yes. Obama’s revenge on Texas continues, dumping sick children into the mix of “wretched refuse” in our public schools. Parents, get your children OUT of Texas public schools any way you can. They are hazardous to your child’s health.
“Eight year old kids just dont up and die...”
They do in the Congo.
Well yeah. I bet that kid had something going on inside to cause his unexpected death. I assume the child was checked out medically before being sent here. If they didn’t find anything how could CDC state that it’s nothing to worry about; all done at the airport. Yep.
Like they would say if he did...
Truthfully, this sort of thing scares the pluperfect heck out of the Public Health Authorities and the airlines. Their nightmare scenario is that someone with a highly contagious pulmonary disease arrives at a crowded airport, infecting dozens of other travelers, many of whom are leaving in all directions.
And you do not want to mess with the Public Health Service when they are scared. They can instantly turn from a friendly, peaceful and invisible organization into an authoritarian nightmare like you’ve never seen.
They can suspend the Bill of Rights, ignore Habeus Corpus, are *not* subordinate to the courts, and can take command of police and military forces as they see fit.
They are a “uniformed” service, and wear uniforms similar to those of the US Navy. They have no enlisted ranks, so are all rated as commissioned officers. Their national leader is the Surgeon General of the United States, who holds a rank equivalent to a Vice Admiral (three stars).
Poor little fella
Never had a chance
Somalia/ Ebola?
South America/ Tuberculosis/ Zika?
