Please pray for our very sick kitty [Update 368]

If you love pets and animals and sometimes pray for them, I'm asking if you could say a little prayer for our kitty Ciel. She is only five years old, a sweet, smart Balinese. She was perfectly healthy and active until two days ago, when she started vomiting foam and stopped eating.

Today we took her in to the vet and she has acute renal failure and diabetes. He gave her IV fluids, some meds to fight nausea etc, and a little insulin. We are to give her sub q fluids and try to get her to eat. He says that she can recover completely but she needs to eat and keep food down. He gives her a 60% chance of survival because she is young and it is acute.

We love her so. She is usually riding on my son's shoulders or fetching toys for us to throw. Or annoying her older "sister" cat. It's unbearable to see her like this.

Thanks in advance for your prayers.

The (empty) bathtub, on a towel, might be a satisfactory site for that too. Kneel at tubside, hang up fluid bag on clothes hanger on curtain rod, and go to town.

You are so right, little jeremiah. As I type this, about to power down because it’s late here... I can hear my dog in her REM sleep... making noises, she’s probably moving her legs, imagining she’s catching a ball or something.

Animals do have a soul. And they give you unconditional love.

They are a real gift. Please take care, FRiend. :)

p.s. I am glad they aren’t as smart... However, I am concerned about robots one day overpowering us. LOL! ;)

Yaelle,

My wife and I have four cats and love them very much, and I pray for them most days. God created cats like every other living creature, and so He sees them as GOOD! Just as Almighty God can heal a human being of illness, he can do the same for your beloved kitty! I will indeed pray for your kitty!

**BTW, when one of our cats stopped eating due to some nasty infection, we took her dry food and ground it up using a coffee grinder, and added warm water to it, and she gobbled it up. It was the consistency of cream of wheat. It made it more palatable for her, and we believe the fact that we served it to her warm made her stomach feel better. It also provided much needed liquids!**

Cats are often very affectionate and sweet, and will forgive you a lot too.

Now if I can only get my Timmy to quit picking on my Icicle. Timmy gets a bad attitude from time to time, and he will stare Icicle down until Icicle complains, then jump on Icicle’s head and chase him around. Too much of that and Icicle bites Timmy back. Which teaches him a lesson until... next time. How do you talk a cat out of picking on another cat. It’s not Icicle’s fault. He’s the lovey-dovey guy and would sooner kiss Timmy than fight. Timmy wants the fights.

Do I even have to refrigerate the bag at all? Right now it is just sitting on the counter. Maybe it is ok just at room temp. With air conditioning on.

A fresh sealed bag, no. Once it has the tubing tap put onto it, my vet recommended refrigeration between usages to head off any spoilage. Mine lasted for 4-5 uses.

But again mine was lactated Ringer’s. If yours is simple saline it might not matter.

Thanks, Wilhelm. The cat food is in pieces, too hard to eat, so for the syringe feeding we have to do now (when she has no interest), we are using baby food and egg and tomorrow maybe cream. We can whip it without sugar. Will get other meats like beef baby food tomorrow.

I envy your cat, sickness and all, still probably the most spoiled cat in America right now.

Yaelle, I forgot to mention, we also used a plastic syringe initially to get her to eat, but after a fin case you don’t have one, ew times of us squirting a little food down her throat, she began to eat voluntarily. We just started with small portions through the syringe, and gave it to her slowly so she wouldn’t gag and become overwhelmed.

Also, in case you don’t have one, I would recommend getting her a water dish that has a running fountain on it. This seems to encourage them to drink more as it get’s their interest. You should be able to pick one up fairly cheap at Wal-Mart of one of the pet chains.

Yaelle, I forgot to mention, we also used a plastic syringe initially to get her to eat this mush concoction, but after a few times of introducing her with her food this way, she began to eat voluntarily. We just started with small portions through the syringe, and gave it to her slowly so she wouldn’t gag and become overwhelmed.

Also, in case you don’t have one, I would recommend getting her a water dish that has a running fountain on it. This seems to encourage them to drink more as it captures their curious interest. You should be able to pick one up fairly cheap at Wal-Mart of one of the large pet chains. Our cats (All Four) love these water dishes!

Does sound like poison. Not sure if cats can take activated charcoal to absorb toxins, but it works miracles on dogs and people.
Prayers up

My profound prayers for your furry buddy.
You should ask about “Prenisolone 5mg”. It brought my cat back from the edge and she is doing very well. The symptoms are not exactly the same but close. You may also want to contact a homeopathic veterinarian like “South Paws” in Northern Virginia. They were miracle workers with one of my cats when nothing else worked. Also you may want to give your cat water via a needleless syringe by mouth. Under the skin keeps them alive, but drinking more water can help flush the kidneys. Also check for a kidney or bladder infection.

Get every kind of fresh fish you can find and try it all until she picks one, plus keep up the canned food she likes the most. Try body temp. milk. If all else fails, you can get a syringe and shoot food or milk into her mouth. Pet her or do whatever she likes a lot.

I said a prayer for you guys.
