Police rescued two people Sunday morning after a coyote cornered the pair as they were hiking in a Burlingame park with their dogs.
At 9:07 a.m., officers responded to a report of a coyote threatening hikers and their dogs at Mills Canyon Park, located on Adeline Drive, according to police.
The hikers were walking on trails inside the park when they stumbled on the coyote. At one point, the hikers became cornered by the coyote, which seemed to be interested in the dogs.
Officers arrived at the scene and were able to scare off the coyote. The officers then safely escorted the hikers and their dogs out of the park.
Police are advising anyone hiking in the area to use caution, especially if hiking with small animals. All animals should be restrained when hiking, as coyotes can view small animals as potential food and larger animals as competition.
Pet owners are also advised to feed their animals indoors, as outdoor feeding can attract wild animals.
Hikers should also avoid feeding coyotes or any other wild animals.
In addition, hikers should not hesitate to scare coyotes by making loud noises and using bright lights.
The .45 is a bit easier to carry than the 12ga, but I won’t dispute the effectiveness either way.
And regarding your post #57 ...
I suspect the “cornered” humans may have been “pansies” (poofters, petunias, pillowbiters, picklesmoochers ...).
Too funny, why not just fire a warning shot and if that doesn't work then shoot the thing?
Not REAL dogs, sissy dogs, to match the hikers...
Or concealed carry for that matter. I always carry (concealed) when I walk my dogs, and pretty much everywhere else I go where it is not prohibited.
I wasnt even talking about getting in a wrestling match, either. Try being just able to scare it away or deter it to go somewhere else. Throw rocks at the thing. They couldnt even do that.
But when you see who the “men” were and its San Fran Sissy you know why.
Were you afraid that the coyote would harm you?
Well, yea
I was alone and had I been able to grab the mayonnaise jar, it would require both hands leaving nothing to beat the animal with
Plus, it was a coyote. My care level with domestic pets is pretty low. With wild animals it’s about zero.
Hmmm, not a single recommendation for carrying “coyote spray” ... if it works well for bears it surely must work for a little doggie! /s/
Theres still an ACME Company out there.
They still do mail order sales, I buy a lot of my parts and materials from them.
I heard that on the cartoons, “ACME” is supposed to stand for “A Company Making Everything.”
Okay, that really made me crack up!!
One coyote two people Seriously? Thy could not stomp their feet or find a rock to throw at it? One coyote alone won’t do much A pack of them is a different story......
“Okay, that really made me crack up!! “
I’d like to believe they’re all cupcakes, but anyone who has a dozen dogs like that doesn’t really rule their own roost.
I was walking my greyhound in the woods when we came upon a coyote. It was about 12 feet away and my dumbass dog started wagging his tail furiously and pulling towards the coyote to greet the other “dog.” I pulled him away and kept my eyes on the coyote. It didn’t move and stared at us with its creepy yellow eyes. I guess it didn’t attack because of the size of my 88 pound dog. We gave the coyote a wide berth and went on our way. It never made an aggressive move.
Obviously little barkies that belong in purses.........
Hikers should throw rocks at the coyote. Wusses.
If they want to feed a coyote they should offer up the slowest fattest hiker there while the rest run off......
“Hikers should also avoid feeding coyotes or any other wild animals.

What cute little puppy dogs. I have a loveable lug of an Imperial Rottweiller napping at my feet.
Door-to-door salesmen and boys in white shirts and ties never come calling at my place.
“Hikers should attempt to scare coyotes by making loud noises and flashing g bright lights”.
I have a Keltec PMR 30 that is louder than a you know what, has a 12 inch muzzle flash and will blow a coyote’s brains out. :-)
I think I understand, you mean professionals on the “meat flute”.
