Police rescued two people Sunday morning after a coyote cornered the pair as they were hiking in a Burlingame park with their dogs.
At 9:07 a.m., officers responded to a report of a coyote threatening hikers and their dogs at Mills Canyon Park, located on Adeline Drive, according to police.
The hikers were walking on trails inside the park when they stumbled on the coyote. At one point, the hikers became cornered by the coyote, which seemed to be interested in the dogs.
Officers arrived at the scene and were able to scare off the coyote. The officers then safely escorted the hikers and their dogs out of the park.
Police are advising anyone hiking in the area to use caution, especially if hiking with small animals. All animals should be restrained when hiking, as coyotes can view small animals as potential food and larger animals as competition.
Pet owners are also advised to feed their animals indoors, as outdoor feeding can attract wild animals.
Hikers should also avoid feeding coyotes or any other wild animals.
In addition, hikers should not hesitate to scare coyotes by making loud noises and using bright lights.
Another reason open carry is a good idea.
Nation of buttercups.
Sad isn’t it?
Always carry a roadrunner when around coyotes.

Better yet, use a baseball bat to beat the snot out of them so the word gets around in coyote circles.
A few years ago, I came out of a library at dusk and saw a large dog with a gallon size plastic mayonnaise jar stuck over his head. I chased it to see if I could help it out. I got about 5 feet away and got a good look at long matter fur and large bushy tail.
Nope, not a dog. I turned and let the coyote fend for itself.
A female Coyote in heat lured him into the woods and by the time my dad found him there was little left but the head and a few patches of fur.
and snowflakes. and pajama boys.
How do two hikers with two dogs get “cornered” by one coyote?

Well I knew it was San Fran Sissy so I wasn’t too surprised.
ROTFLMAO! If I had coffee, it’d be coming out my nose.
The dogs are pugs or chihuahas, and the two hikers are flamers.

Wonderful, now the feral dog can go harass others. Not how an intelligent officer should handle it.

Best of all, use a .45 cal 230gr JHP to end the coyote’s career from a safe distance.
California would let coyotes eat 1,000 people and it still wouldn’t budge off its doctrine of keeping citizens defenseless. The idiots here pass initiatives to let the cute wild kitties and doggies roam free in populated areas without a moments thought as to what it means for their kids or pets. Cat carcasses are now common in towns on the San Fran peninsula.

Goodun. I completely missed that.
I have seen photos of the results of coyote/dog interactions.
It’s just as you say and horrible, beyond words.
They tried to out run him, but he easily caught them after strapping on a pair of Acme Atomic Powered Roller Skates.
