The herd did not want to accept the calf -- the poor thing kept approaching people, hoping someone would save him. I think it was cruel of the rangers that instead of keeping him in some zoo or wild animal shelter for a few days or weeks, until it got stronger, they euthanized the poor thing. Read the article.

Animal lovers are like socialists. Animalists think they can tame wild animals. Socialists think they can tame humans.

I was afraid of that. Don’t know why it couldn’t be taken to an wildlife park.

Stupid liberals.

He should have gone to a zoo — the San Diego Zoo, for example, has a bison exhibit. He would have been perfect there. I’m wondering if there isn’t more to this story.

I don’t understand why it couldn’t got to a wildlife rehab facility. Surely there was someplace it could have been taken versus euthanizing it.

Stupid tourists

These are the same government officials that would kill people without a second thought.

They could have shipped that animal to a refuge instead of killing it.

My dislike for this government grows everyday.

I thought Bison made good pets.

Joking aside, if the calf was approaching people, it was likely already rejected by the mother (if not already eaten or dead from giving birth). The calf my have been in bad health itself. Still, it might have made one hell of a 4-H project for some teenagers.

Shades of PETA, which was euthanizing animals left and right while doing stupid stunts “for the animals.” That barely made the news a while back.

The little guy was looking for help and this is what he got. It seems to me one sorrowful example of the cold cruelty that permeates our government and to some degree, our society.

What a waste-— could have gotten a few good veal cutlets out of the calf.

The visitors were cited for touching park wildlife and fined $110

That'll teach 'em. Next time cover it with a blanket and take it home. It'd make a fine BBQ.

Idiots, cattle ranchers in order to get a cow to geed a strange calf will spray the cows nose with hair spray and the calf with hair spray. When the cow sniffs the calf it recognizes the smeel.

Pretty rotten solution. Probably plenty of zoos or even a farmer who would take him. Plain old rotten government.

There might be more to this story. Perhaps the calf was sick and euthanizing it was a way to continue natural selection?

This is a bunch of BS from the Park Rangers.

There are thousands of ranchers who raise buffalo, did they call even one to see if the rancher would take the calf?

Stay away from the wildlife, or we will kill the wildlife!

We have people here in TN who farm buffalo. I bet they would have loved to have that calf.

Euthanize rangers, not bison.

Thugs for the most part.

You’ve never raised cattle, have you? When a cow has twins and rejects one of them because she doesn’t have enough milk for two?

And the buffalo herd is already at carrying-capacity. Predators are required to keep the balance.

You do know what wolves do to baby buffalo, right?

Unless a zoo or a private party, like a farmer, offered up to take it off the Yellowstone and pay for everything required, like immunizations and parasitical cleansing, it wasn’t anything the park could afford to take up itself.
