Shades of PETA, which was euthanizing animals left and right while doing stupid stunts “for the animals.” That barely made the news a while back.

The little guy was looking for help and this is what he got. It seems to me one sorrowful example of the cold cruelty that permeates our government and to some degree, our society.

Peta - exactly! I was going to post the same thing, when I saw yours.

I have mixed feelings about this. As the proud owner of two wild birds that ‘do-gooders’ just couldn’t leave alone, I’ve given a lot of time, and many years (do you know how long pigeons live???) to caring for wildlife that should have been left wild.

People find baby birds on the ground, and don’t think that the mom and dad are certainly somewhere around; and if people would just leave them alone - or simply move them out of traffic, if that’s an issue - the parents will take care.

I acquired mine (a pigeon and a sparrow) because do-gooders decided to ‘help’; and they would have been euthanized by the facility where they were brought, if I didn’t volunteer to take them.

I’ve taken good care of them - they’ve been comfortable. But I don’t know if they’ve been ‘happy’, as opposed to flying the skies. (I’ve reared and released orphaned birds; but the circumstances surrounding these didn’t allow for that. They would have had a better chance at ‘happiness’ if just left alone.)

On the other hand, there are plenty of people who are glad to take care of orphans, if they truly need care; you just have to do the work to find them, and give up the ‘know-it-all’ attitude that outfits like Peta have, as to what should live and what should die.
