BREAKING: Cruz Challenges Trump to One-on-One Moderator-Free Debate
Conservative Review ^ | January 26th, 2016 | CR Wire

Posted on 01/26/2016 6:50:38 PM PST by Isara

Tonight on the Mark Levin Radio Show, Ted Cruz told CR's Editor-in-Chief Mark Levin that he is challenging Donald Trump to a one on one debate.  He suggested that the debate be held on talk radio, and that it be a Megyn Kelly free zone.

Listen:

Cruz Challenges Trump To Debate (Audio)

The challenge comes after Trump said he would not participate in the Fox News debate on Thursday January 28, 2016.

Cruz told Levin, "the fact that Donald is now afraid to appear on the debate stage. That he doesn't want his record questioned. I think that reflects a lack of respect for the men and women of Iowa."

Cruz said if Trump is afraid of Sean Hannity, Rush Limbaugh, Mark Levin, or Megyn Kelly hosting a debate that he is willing to do an hour long head to head debate with no moderator.

Developing.

Yes it is against the RNC rules, but I guess Mr. Know-it-all doesn’t know it all.

Document RNC rule.

Since when do thinking folks base their POTUS choices on how well folks debate?

The Donald will probably chicken out, citing a prior engagement or some other lame excuse.

But if he accepts, Cruz will have him for dinner AND dessert!

“Putin is a lot scarier than Megan Kelly”

Yeah baby! Way to put it in perspective.

I like Teds ideology if it’s to be believed

But I can see why Jeff Sessions who has been as conservative as Cruz a whole lot longer is leaning Trump it appears

Let me get this straight, a guy polling at 13% nationally, wants to debate a guy polling at 41%? What?

Oh bull

It started out very little anti Cruz talk here....it could get you perma zotted till a few months ago like criticizing Sarah Palin would in 2011

Then the Trump hating took off with a vengeance

Now it’s pretty evenly matched

Freepers just doing what comes natural to many of them

Being asshats

I suggest instead Trump issue a wall building challenge to the talker.

I rather like the idea. It sends the message that our friends like Jeb just aren’t relevant. If they could agree to a polite, civil, discussion of their positions on various topics, it could help the voters decide. No moderators, time limits, or insults. Regardless of what anyone here thinks, both of these gentlemen have the capability to act like gentlemen for an hour. I really enjoyed the “debate” between Newt and Cain last time around.

Has teddy made a comment about Trump leaving the debate, or is he waiting to see which way the wind is blowing, you know, like he usually does.

A debate reveals how well the candidates can explain and defend their policies.

These candidate forums are not true debates but while flawed, they at least do give the candidates a chance to somewhat challenge their opponents face to face and give the voters a chance to see them side by side.

Trump wimped out.

I remember when Newt Gingrich won all the debates, hands down. How did that work out for him?

“Trump challenges Cruz to achieve something in congress.”

There is a lot of truth in that statement. Trump has a ton of executive experience and gets things done. Meanwhile Cruz will still be debating the subject.

RNC rules? Funny Trump would find that a good cover.

Sounds like Mr. Trump has just stepped in a big stinky pile of Iowa pig poop.

Of course we understand that as the polls show a virtual tie, Donald has to try to go for ‘run and hide’ headlines.

If he doesn’t take Cruz’s challenge, he’s toast.
