The brutal 1820s frontier revenge thriller "The Revenant" landed a leading 12 nominations for the 88th annual Academy Awards, while the acting categories were again filled entirely by white performers a year after the Oscars came under withering criticism over its lack of diversity.
The strong showing Thursday for "The Revenant," including a best actor nod for Leonardo DiCaprio and best supporting actor for Tom Hardy, follows its win at the Golden Globes. Saw this movie the other night.
Other then the scenery and the special effects in the bear attack, it sucked.
2.5 hour movie for a 10 minute non story.

AMPAS should just have a permanent nomination for Ted Danson, and he can show up at the Oscars in blackface each year. Am sure he still has that can of shoe polish stashed somewhere.
Not impressed with much out of Hollywood these days, including their movies. Could care less who wins what.
Why should the level of excellence in an actor’s performance have anything whatsoever to do with race?

Hollywood just got another historic year in box office receipts. The public is going to movies more then ever before. Probably because it’s a cheap form of entertainment (as long as you bring your own goodies). So I think you may see a LITTLE more interest in awards this year.......maybe.

I think this is funny. I actually think k its humorous that Hollywood, Which prides itself on being liberal , and which pushes liberalism in TV shows and movies, is attacked for somehow being racist and not being diverse enough to suit certain liberals...............
