How Canada planned to invade the U.S. (and vice versa)
Maclean's ^ | Nov. 27, 2015 | Zane Schwartz

Those who don't learn from history are doomed to repeat it. So if any misguided Canadian prime minister ever gets it in his or her head to wage war on the United States, it might not hurt to brush up on past attempts to conquer our southern neighbour. Some of our previous incursions were roaring successes (Canada, or if you want to get picky, the British, burned down the White House) and we can always learn from our embarrassing failures (like that time we almost went to war over a pig. More on that later.)

Fortunately, Kevin Lippert has a new book out, War Plan Red, detailing the more-than-200-year history of border skirmishes between the United States and Canada. It's $5 cheaper in the United States (another reason to invade) and contains all the historical context one might need to reclaim Maine for Canada (you won't read about it in American history books, but Canada conquered Maine in 1814). The most intriguing parts of the book are the two maps showing Canada's plan to invade the United States (circa 1921) and America's plan to invade Canada (circa 1930).

I have spent about a year in Canada all told and found the people almost universally polite and hospitable, with a few unfortunate exceptions. Most people don’t know you’re American unless you tell them, but that rarely comes up. And people from Albert have accents every bit as redneck as Texas.

Of course, today, Canada and the UK have only tiny military forces.

You can include us in that statement.

I welcome our new Canadian overlords they give you gravy with your french fires up there!

I am always amazed at how many Canadians hate the United States.

Go to Alberta they are a bunch of red neck cowboys who hate the French speaking BS. Any Texan would feel right at home.

Most of our trips, deer hunting, were in Alberta and I felt the hatred less there. British Columbia fishing and bear hunting was the worst. Both places it was usually snarky remarks about the value of things and the spending power of our dollar against their, as I recall.

She was referring to Rachel Notley who is destroying Alberta very quick. A lot of us are looking at separation. We don’t talk lightly of these things either. They call us Texas of the North for a reason.

The situation is dire. She has killed over 100k jobs this year and many more to come. They are forcing a carbon tax on us, and Trudeau and her are both at Paris to force even more nonsense down our necks.

There is no option but to remove ourselves from this sheer madness.

Nova Scotia is nice, but I can’t stand most of the people. The vast majority are liberals with no real sense of what freedom is. They just worry about what the government can do for them.

I did marry one though, surprised even myself by doing that.

I don't think that applies to "Anne".Her husband,a native of New Brunswick, joined the US Army in the late 60's mainly so they could get US citizenship (it was easy for foreigners to do that at that time). He died in Vietnam.

He died trying to move to a more free country. No that wouldn’t apply to her. It also doesn’t apply to one of my in laws there. The rest of the family there thinks my wife is brainwashed.

Yes, that’s probably who the girl was talking about.

I hear you on Trudeau, he’s such a puke I can’t stand to even look at him.

Wish you Albertan’s the best in getting rid of your female obama.

"I have had some really rude snarky comments made to me up there..."

Jealousy and a national inferiority complex. Some of us have gotten over it.

Glad to hear that Canada is a fabulous place and no one there should feel inferior!

I almost froze to death in Alberta one time but that was my own stupid fault.

It was early November and I brought my Texas winter hunting clothes.
Groan!!!

The one and only time I ever experienced -40F (which, curiously,is also -40C) was in a small town about 200 miles north of Montreal in January of last year.Couldn't believe my car started...couldn't believe I survived.

Merger is already on the books and being promulgated by none other than General Petraeus, stupid rules of engagement, himself with what is called The Northern Union (includes Mexico). Petraeus still advises the administration. The underground plan was outed by the John Birch Society ( John Birch Society video "Gen. Petraeus Reveals 'North American Union' Progress" ) and officially referenced in Wikileaks disclosures.

Read this article from The New American, 2014-June. I see the administration's bluff with Russia and the infiltration of Europe, Canada and the US with terrorists as a way to bring about their new world order. Warnings include the TPP which is based on NAFTA which did nothing to boost the US economy but benefits Mexico (cartel- see referenced articles below and more are listed at the bottom of the first linked New American article).
