Pope Francis Scolds Congress for Gun and Weapons Sales

On September 24, Pope Francis scolded Congress for guns and weapons which are manufactured in America and sold around the world.

He said he was determined “to minimize and, in the long term, to end the many armed conflicts throughout our world,” as he addressed the billion-dollar sales from American companies that he sees as a contributing factor to conflicts abroad.

According to The Intercept, Pope Francis said:

Here we have to ask ourselves: Why are deadly weapons being sold to those who plan to inflict untold suffering on individuals and society? Sadly, the answer, as we all know, is simply for money: money that is drenched in blood, often innocent blood. In the face of this shameful and culpable silence, it is our duty to confront the problem and to stop the arms trade.

U.S. manufacturers make tens of billions cumulatively—The Intercept cites a figure of $23.7 billion in 2014 alone—from guns and weapons that are sold “to nearly 100 different countries.” The sales “have surged to record levels” under Obama, due in part to taxpayer subsidized sales to Israel and Egypt and “huge shipments to Gulf States, particularly Saudi Arabia.” And Saudi Arabia has subsequently been criticized for using “cluster bombs and other munitions… to hit densely populated areas, schools, and even a camp for displaced people in Yemen.” These are some of the things that appear to be behind Pope Francis’s statements on this issue.

Islamic State militants force Egyptian Coptic Christians to kneel before beheading them in Libya in just one of many atrocities committed by the terrorist group

The Islamic State (aka ISIS/ISIL) has released a new execution video on social media. The horrific video shows four men being suspended from a metal structure and then being slowly burned to death by small fires placed below them.

The neutrality of firearms displayed perfectly with one picture.

With all due respect to the Pope, Guns are not the problem.

When he starts scolding the ragheads for their crap, I might listen. Doesn’t mean I will agree, but I will agree to listen.

Sorry brother and sister in the Catholic tradition . . .

Francis, you are very close to being an abomination to God. You speak for worldly wisdom - not the voice of Christ.

Guns can stop evil as easily as they can cause it.

As a Catholic myself, I have to ask. Is the Pope willing to disarm the Swiss bodyguards?

Where does the Pope get his weapons? I’m not talking about the Book; I’m talking about the guns his bodyguards carry.

"When he starts scolding the ragheads for their crap, I might listen. Doesn’t mean I will agree, but I will agree to listen."

I agree. This is why I believe the Catholic religion is just another political entity. It's been reported many times that during his speeches on PC stuff in America, he didn't even mention Jesus Christ.

While I'm not a religious man, I DO believe that Christ existed and was the most tolerant (to a fault), compassionate, sympathetic, empathetic, loving human beings that has existed. The fact that the Pope of the Catholic Church doesn't mention him is heresy to Christians. He should be preaching Christ's teachings and not getting involved in politics. But that is the Catholic Church from the start. Pfft.

If Wikipedia is correct (I know), They use Sig Sauer P220, Glocks, Steyr TMP, or H&K MP-5.

Even a lot of worldly wisdom is smarter than this.

He may be well intentioned, but this has to be the stupidest Pope in modern history, maybe of all time.

Well said. I personally believe that Christ is coming back before long, and he’s not going to be quite as tolerant on his return visit.

It’s no wonder the Muslim-in-Chief was giddy as a little girl before this Pope’s visit.

Hypocrites on parade, another leftie for the lefties to adore and drool over. If he wants to save the refugees let then live in vatacan city, if he wants global warming to work let him preach to the chinese government the worst abusers, if he wants peace and love let him preach to isis who is lopping of the heads of his flock. When you say nothing about the “real” atrocities you agree with them.

I can not believe the utter stupidity of this guy. He is surrounded by armed guards, lives in a little access area and has the nerve to tell this country what is wrong with us. He needs to just be quiet. Did he say anything about Jesus on this trip? If not, why not? He needs to go back home.
