Listening here and it so good to hear the familiar intro song. http://artbell.com/

Art Bell is gifted in the ability to make a story come alive. Crystal Gayle wrote the song “Midnight in the Desert” specifically for Art because she and her husband were fans of his show.

The name of his new show is “Midnight in the Desert.”

Streaming live right now and it’s crystal clear on this a glitchy borrowed computer, with a very slow connection.

He says that his only rule is no bad language.

"From the High Desert...I bid you all good evening, good morning, good afternoon, wherever you may be at this great land of ours, at whatever time you are -...I'm Art Bell, and I'm happy to be here and we've got a full night tonight."

The edge of reality?

More like over the edge.

He’s streaming live 9pm PDT and it works well on my glitchy borrowed computer plus a very slow connection. http://player.streamguys.com/dmr/sgplayer/player.php

He opened talking to Crystal Gayle who years ago had flown out to Pahrump, NV to meet Art Bell with her husband and to give Art the song “Midnight in the Desert” she had written specifically for Art Bell. She said that she and her husband had been fans of Art Bell for years and after talking to her husband, decided to write the song.

He’s taking live callers too.

He’s a real pro, kind to his callers, every single one without condescension. Ha ha, the first caller a sweet lady named Rose didn’t realize she was talking to Art himself, shared about how she and her husband listened to him all the time, said she and her husband absolutely loved him on Coast to Coast, she’s still going on she loves him, mentioned Ramona and expressed her condolences.

Isn't he great, just love this. He is pro all the way. He just played the very appropriate "Eye of the Tiger."

Listening to the inaugural show now, via internet. It’s really good to hear Art again. Thanks for posting the thread and the links to find him.

about two dozen or so terrestrial stations in the US and Canada.

If Art still has his mojo, that number will grow exponentially very soon.

On another note, hearing all of his old bumper music sure takes me back in time :-)

He is a real pro, absolutely gifted in his ability to make any story compelling, if not believable, at the very least enetertaining and very interesting.

He also has a pace which allows him to be genuinely kind to callers and his guests, no matter what direction the interview goes, Art’s a pro.

I got in maybe half an hour after the show started, so I missed all the great intro stuff. No biggie. Everything else about the show, so far, sounds just like it did back in the nineties.

If I just go with the flow, I can imagine I'm back in the days before Obozo. What a warm, wonderful feeling that is.

If you’re not familiar with John B Wells, Caravan To Midnight, look him up. Some fantastic programs, some of which John knows are so important that he has placed the full 2+ hour show for free on Youtube.

That's one appreciative thing about his new show, is that it sticks to it's roots. Same bumper music and same long form talk format and same guests we've all come to know.
