A lot of empty heads probably consider the rainbow flag fad and SCOTUS ruling as a short feel good moment in the name of civil rights.
Many in the church realize the ramifications for this are huge. If the events in the last two weeks didn't wake up the church, I'm not sure if anything will.
I'm curious...what did your pastor\priest or rabbi say about the recent ruling and pro-homosexual agenda sweeping our nation this or previous Sunday?
:)
Reminds me of the village pastor that got his bike stolen. Another pastor from the next village down said he should preach about the Ten Commandments, and whoever stole it would feel so guilty he would return the bike.
The following week the other pastor saw him riding his bike.
“Ah - I told you it would work - they returned your bike eh?”
“No. I got to the one about ‘Thou shall not commit adultery’ and I remembered I left it at Miss Anderson's place!”
Stuck with Bible and portions that were already planned as an on-going series. Our pastor said that we will never know his political thoughts because it is his job to carry the Word and to elevate Jesus in our hearts. I like his. approach.
That's one thing many forget when they call on God to send the lightning bolts at the sodomizers, in that some of those bolts may hit them for their sins, too.
I don’t know what was said at my church last weekend. I left the church when the first gay bishop was installed. Funny, I don’t miss it...I do not need someone telling me weekly what I should think. My faith is as strong, maybe stronger, than it ever was.
My preacher said exactly what I expected: That the church does not endorse or approve of gay marriage, that we should love the sinner in order to bring more to Christ, but that this decision is a omen of persecution to come.

But the rules have changed...you love them and bring them to Christ, but now these churches are supporting their continuing sinning. Christ welcomed a prostitute...but what would he have done if she said she was going to continue hooking? That’s the problem, you welcome them to your pew, but today they do not repent and change their way. So now, they continue the sin, with the approval of the church. I don’t need a church like that. Ask your preacher what he would do when the sinner stated he was going to continue to sin, that he was not even going to try to change...that his sin was really OK and others could do it too? No penalty, just love and full acceptance of the sinner? And then your church is sinfully infiltrated, look at the Episcopal “church”...a religious joke. A slippery slope unless there is accountability for sinning...( and don’t tell me God will hold them accountable)...I’m talking about a church, here in this life, a sanctuary from sin...not a motel for it.
My pastor noted, very elaborately — and with precision of thought and logical progression — that bkepley is an a-hole.
I refuse to answer on the grounds that the answer may tend to incriminate me.
The Pastor keeping his views private will not matter.
The homosexual agenda is such that a homosexual couple will show up, probably with media in tow, and demand to be married.
It sounds like the Pastor is trying to avoid the issue and, unfortunately, probably only managed to put off the day of reckoning.
Agree with you.
He actually did state that any unrepentant Christian cannot continue church attendance, so that was covered as well.

I think because the group think scares me
Sometimes it's a journey to find the right type of church for you. After I bailed out of a longtime "mainstream" church that was going leftist, I participated in a series of home churches for a year or two at a time, where small groups of very sincere seekers met to discuss the Bible and pray together. Through this process I was led to attend a Bible study class in a church in a faraway town, even though I didn't go to services on Sundays or become a member, but just because a friend said the pastor was young and vibrant and the class was excellent. The contents of the class then led me to an actual church congregation closer to home, where I have been happy for awhile. This all took a period of years, but it has been a time when I independently studied the scriptures and prayed, and I believe the Holy Spirit heard my prayers and led me all the while.
Have you ever read the Bible straight through? It is very rich in food for thought, and it "speaks" to you in your own life. Your path will be your own, and not just like anyone else's.
Since the Bible is so long, it may be easier to read the New Testament straight through, and then back up into the Old Testament references in the New Testament. Jesus referred to the Old Testament many times. There are also lots of scripture-related sites online.
Blessings on your journey! If I may help at any time, freepmail me.
