President Barack Obama said at a Democratic National Committee fundraiser in Portland, Ore., yesterday that he is “not a scientist,” but that: “I can understand science.”

Obama made the remark as he talked about his agenda for fighting global warming.

“That’s why we’re taking actions through the EPA to make sure that we cut carbon pollution that’s produced from power plants,” he said. “It’s the right thing to do.” …

Obama’s comments underscore the fact that global warming is part a very specific branch of science - political science.

There may be something subliminal going on.
He went “full Wookie” and this `eat healthy’ advice came to his tiny mind?
Yeah, I’m tired of being preached to by both of them.

I am so sick of that phrase.

Every time I hear Ears utter it, I know something bad is on the way.

No, it isn't pollution, it's plant food.

OK!! Everybody pay attention!

Lesson for today:

1. The sun is 1,300,000 times as big as the earth.

2. The sun is a ball of fire that controls the climates of all its planets.

3. The earth is one of the sun’s planets.

4. The earth is a speck in comparison to the size of the sun.

5. Inhabitants of the earth are less than specks.

Study Question: How do less-than-specks in congress plan to control the sun?

If the progressives understood anything at all, they would not keep repeating the same mistakes of the past. Over and over again.

In bourgeois society, therefore, the past dominates the present; in Communist society, the present dominates the past.

Communist Manifesto, Chapter II
If the present keeps dominating the past, it is impossible to learn anything from the past. Progressive doctrine, which keeps society retrograde.

BTW, Kepler did not think his understanding was in the least rudimentary. He invested enormous spiritual and cosmic significance in his cosmology. A person who takes a calculus based physics course learns really very little about science. No question, understanding physics and elementary calculus gives one a richer and deeper perspective, caeteris paribus, (which admittedly they rarely are), but taken in isolation, introductory university "calculus" physics informs one only a tiny bit.

Very enlightening. They must have known their progress would never progress. Just look at Venezuela. More prove communism was always a scam.

I can understand law, too, but that doesn't make me a lawyer. Just as there are an intricate myriad of subtleties in the law, there are significant complications in science, as well.

You can rest assured that Obama does NOT understand science. He simply has such an ego that he doesn't know what he doesn't know. Worse yet, he's to dumb to learn.

Without intending to pile on, I like the anecdote from Asger Aaboe, who was teaching an introductory astronomy course to elite mathematics undergraduates at Yale in 1967. He raised the question, “Can you see the moon during the day?” There followed a heated class discussion, with opinions being hotly debated and defended. Aaboe ended the discussion by asking the students to look out the window.

I bet every single student in that class had already aced “calculus physics”, but they were no better off for it than President Obama or Michael Mann.
