Yep. One entertaining guy.

Maybe too focused on entertaining, as it turned out.

Floyd had a problem with Maidana who was aggressive, an unconventional thrower of punches, and could take a punch. You need someone who can put constant pressure on Floyd without exposing themselves to counter punches.

Cromwell Center. I think I played basketball there as a kid. Don’t remember much about it except they had some fine ball players.

thanks for giving me 11 rounds to watch later. I was a heavyweight who should have lost 20 pounds and been light heavyweight.
There was a middleweight guy there who used to toy with me during sparring. He could have killed me if he wanted to. And the weasel trainer used to waive people to bring it on behind the inferior fighter's back!!!! SOB lol.
Puerto rican fighter. Class act.
I used to do six sets of one hundred push ups and sit ups.
Now i can barely sit up without effort or push myself off the couch lol. My aunt says to put a picture of me back then on the Wall to motivate me. I put it up but it's blocked by Twinkies :).

Boxing is a joke, these “boxers” wouldn’t last a minute against an MMA fighter.

So what, neither would a basketball player. They are two separate sports, with different rules so you train and use your body an use weight in much different ways. The best athletes go where the money is so why would an excellent boxer take the time to learn MMA?

If you are trying to make the point that MMA fighters are better overall fighters, like in a street fight, I would dispute that always being the case. In a fight with no rules someone willing to bite and gouge could overcome much of the wrestling or Judo based aspects of MMA and the winners on the average would be the better striker. This is especially true if there are multiple attackers.

OK, I’m a girly girl, but I never understood boxing, it is so bestial to slug it out and cause harm to another in the name of entertainment.

LOL. Nice turn of phrase.

Have you ever been to one live? Get up front tickets. I know girly girls who have changed their minds completely after seeing a boxing match up close.

Floyd is just an incredible dooosh bag. That’s the only way to describe him. Unfortunately, guys like that make good fighters. His domestic abuse record is appalling and his spending habits shallow and insane. So easy to root against. If Pacman knocks him out ( unlikely), that will be the only satisfying conclusion. No way Pacman gets a decision. If it goes the distance, I wouldn’t be surprised to see a draw. That way they can fight again and double their money. It’s all about the dollars. Always.

Of course not. If you take away the majority of the MMA fighter's tools how can anyone expect it to be competitive?

Conversely, if the boxer has to defend takedowns, submission attempts and head/body/leg kicks, he'd get destroyed.

Yeah, a couple of hard kicks to the lead leg and Mayweather would be limping and done.

Those guys aren't as fast as Pacman is.

Pac is going to use his hand and foot speed to win rounds.

An ex-con once told me the difference in a street fight and it wasn’t the particular skills of the combatants. He said the meanest person wins.

Randy Cotoure vs. James Toney (who was actually holding a HW boxing title at the time)

The fight went to the ground quickly and Couture completely dominated Toney.

In a pure boxing match (no grappling, submissions, etc.), of course the boxer has the advantage. Take the fight to the ground and out of the boxer's comfort zone, the more well-rounded fighter will defeat the fighter who is skilled in a single discipline that requires both fighters to be standing in order to be effective.

The boxer must land a first or 2nd punch KO in order to have the advantage vs. a skilled MMA fighter.

Not much of a fight fan myself (I prefer that good ol' pre-Internet kayfabe rasslin'!), but second only to baseball, boxing probably has the longest and most quasi-mythological history and lore.

About the time I was born boxing was an absolute craze in the United States. I have read that boxing saturated television much as football does today and that every fighter of ever weight class had dedicated fans who couldn't wait to watch them on "Friday Night Fights."

The sport is very brutal and I'm not even sure it should be legal (but I'm not "raising awareness" or anything, boxing fans, so don't get mad!). But when you consider names like John L. Sullivan, Jack "Nonpareil" Dempsey, Mysterious Billy Smith, Jack Dempsey, Joe Louis, and the TV stars of the 50s (Marciano, Robinson, etc.), you have to give the fight game its props.

The PacMan epitomizes the boxing warrior and he reminds me of the former greats such as Ismael Laguna and Roberto Duran who grew up in their respective third world dirt floored villages in Panama.

Manny is a hero in his country who has been plagued by tax problems but after all is said and done, what he had done for his country, he has attained saint hood as far as I'm concerned.

Mayweather is nothing but a bling adorned thug with a criminal record........
