Bow down to the rentiers. I’m sure they have plenty of support in FR land.

The EFF thinks the industry's desire to block exemptions has more to do with profits than safety. You think?

If that’s true then no one should be allowed to do covers of songs or Karaoke.

My 2008 Saturn Aura just had its front wheel bearings replaced by our neighborhood car guy. Great job adn much less expensive than if I ahd a dealer do it — or even a “repair shop.”

Screw GM. Rip out the OEM computer and deal with an aftermarket company that will sell one without copyright protection.

You own it, why can you not tweak it?
Understand, may void your warranty, outcome not guaranteed, must disclose to buyer, blah blah... but making it illegal? As in, Break down your door, shoot your dog and haul you away in handcuffs illegal? Why?

ECM went out on my 02 Dodge....450 for a rebuilt...700 for a dealer. My next truck will be a non-millennial. Preferably 70’s vintage.

The American public should hold off on buying new cars for 2 or 3 years and see how soon they change their tune..

Actually, this would be fairly easy for the car manufactures to do. Add a 3G / 4G connection to the computer in the car, put in a upgrade process similar to the PS3 or other console.
If the upgrade software does not pass the security check, it is not implemented.

My BIL got a notice from VW to bring his jetta diesel in for some kind of pollution control addition. Car runs fine. Says it is to meet some Fed regulation.
It is his car now. I told him to forget about it.
It is past time for civil disobedience.
