NY Times: Samsung finally seems to understand the many criticisms that have long been leveled at its phones: the plastic hardware looked cheap, the most promoted features were mostly useless and the software was too complicated,” Farhad Manjoo writes for The New York Times. “Samsung, according to Samsung, has realized the errors of it ways.”
“The realization was born out of necessity. Samsungs market share and profits in the smartphone business have plummeted over the last year. The company, which is based in South Korea, is in the unenviable position of getting squeezed from the bottom by the affordable phones made by Chinese upstarts like Xiaomi and at the top by Apples powerhouse line of iPhones,” Manjoo writes. “Despite improved hardware, the S6 and S6 Edge still lack compelling software. Unlike Apple, Samsung has never managed to create a built-in suite of software and services to keep people hooked to its own phones. And there are few obvious ways for Samsung to address this glaring flaw.”
The S6 and S6 Edge “are still something of a pain to use. The S6 and S6 Edge run Samsungs modified version of Googles Android operating system. Despite Samsungs engineers efforts to clean up the software, the phones interface is a hodgepodge of odd design decisions and overly complicated functions… They sell for about the same price as Apples latest devices, $199 and up with a two-year contract, or more than $650 without a contract,” Manjoo writes. “If you pay the premium price to Apple, you get a phone with a well-designed operating system, no overlapping preloaded apps, and a host of services that often work very well, like iMessage, Apple Pay and expanding compatibilities with Apples personal computers and devices like the Apple TV and, soon, the Apple Watch. You can criticize Apples sticky ecosystem as a form of consumer lock-in, but Apple sure has built a luxurious prison, and customers are willing to pay extra for it. If you pay that premium to Samsung, you dont get a whole lot more than you can get on, say, a phone made by Xiaomi, OnePlus or any of a dozen smaller players.”

Samsung could compete with Apple if they would simply stop using the front of their devices as an advertising platform.
Get the name off the device.
Apple has gotten so strong, because it is just about the platform, and when you use one, you’re not advertising for the company.
I’ve actually listened to several Keynotes by Tim Cook and he’s never lectured me on anything you’re referring to. I’ve always thought his Keynotes were good, although Steve Jobs did them better.
As for anywhere else, I’ve never had Tim Cook lecture me on anything! ... :-) ... and outside of those keynotes, I don’t listen to anything else from him, because I’m not interested. I’m only interested in terms of the products themselves.
Here’s a bunch of Keynotes ... see for yourself! He’s not lecturing you on anything you’re referring to.

You once claimed you weren’t a social marketer, but just someone who was sharing Apple news on the forum for interested parties.
This article is as much “Apple news” as an article about Ted Cruz is “Hillary news.”
It’s clear you are just a SAMSUNG HAAAAATER (lol) or Apple social marketer. Why else would you make it a point to post stuff like this - the sole purpose of which is to bash one product in a weak effort to raise up another? Bringing Samsung down to boost Apple sales... social marketer goal #2... check.
“Why would any sane person who is thinking of buying a Galaxy S6 make his decision based on a review from Mac Daily News? The S6 has received excellent reviews across the board, has had record pre-orders and will have great sales. It will be well deserved too. Its a great product.”

You do realize that MacDailyNews is simply an aggregator of news (similar to the Drudge Report) that provides extracts of news items from OTHER sources along with links to those items? This instant “MacDailyNews” item is simply an extract from a New York Times article. Here’s the link to that NYT article:
I’m happy with my no contract $100 LG phone. Does everything I need including streaming ESPN. The days of $500+ smart phones being anything other than niche luxury products are numbered.
Anyway my wife brought home a Samsung Galaxy phone a while back and I'm still have to help her with it. Despite being a seasoned smartphone user, I still have to Google things like the other day when I searched "why won't text messages download images." Turns out with the Samsung, you have to have the right combination of Wi-Fi and data settings to have this work properly. On the iPhone, I never once had an issue where I had to Google the answer.
Not saying the Samsung is a crappy phone but the user interface is not very intuitive at all. There's a lot of tricks you need to know to master it. With the iOS interface, it's very easy to figure out how to do things and the interface is pretty consistent no matter what Apple phone or tablet you are using.
Oh, I noticed someone in the news said the following, and it was from someone that many Freepers are very supportive of ... it was the following sentiment ...
We have to accept Gay people, and I just ask that they accept us.
— — —
Perhaps not as many Freepers would get so excited if they followed that philosophy and worked for acceptance between two sides ... :-) ...
Just wondering if you would go along with that idea.
So we didn't really need all those Federal Judges to legalize gay marriage, all I needed to do was buy an iPhone. Who knew it was so easy?
And anyone with money can buy one cool.
What I know is that if you got rid of Microsoft and Android, because of their Homosexual agenda ... we would lose 3/4 of the Freepers here, and no one could call them to find out what happened ... LOL ...
The S6 is a iPhone clone. The S3, S4, and S5 had replaceable batteries and upgradable memory. The S5 was water-resistant. Samsung gave up it’s distinct features to follow Crapple phones. I had planned to get a S6. I may get a S5 to upgrade my S3 or something else.
These are important features, why would they leave them out??
Screw the Cupertino gay mafia.
