***THE OFFICIAL FRIDAY SILLINESS THREAD***

Posted on 03/20/2015 6:43:07 AM PDT by Lucky9teen

You were saying, Starbucks?

Dennis Miller - Just ordered a black coffee at Starbucks and was informed that "de-creamed" was the preferred term.

~~~~~~~~~~~~
With the best intentions, Starbucks recently launched a new campaign to get people talking about race. The campaign was promoted by their CEO Howard Schultz and involves a barista writing #RaceTogether on your morning cup of coffee and engaging you in a conversation about race relations.
Now, that might’ve sounded like a good idea in the boardroom, but the reality is people aren’t at their best in the early morning before they’ve had their cup of the strong stuff.  And no corporation can force people to have an honest conversation about America's race problem. They'll either have one or they won't. Simply presenting them with the opportunity, though, doesn't even raise awareness of the matter; it just raises awareness of Starbucks's awareness. The more you pat yourself on the back for being conscious of an issue, the more it seems like exploitation. What kind of positive change could actually come from a large number of people knowing that Starbucks wants people to talk about race? I don't know. Nothing.
Still, Starbucks obviously hadn’t thought that far ahead and launched the campaign. But no sooner had they posted it to twitter…
…when the backlash and ridiculing started.
    -    Zach Stafford @ZachStafford - Barista: Your total is $5.45 Me: You can just put that on my reparations tab. Thanks.
    -    Christian Hipster @ChristnHipster - walked into @Starbucks and started talking with the barista about a jewish carpenter i know
    -    ConservativeBlackMan @Thomasismyuncle - Stopped at Dunkin Donuts this morning, got my coffee and a croissant sandwich and no lecture on my victimhood... so winning! #RaceTogether
    -    Tamara @LibertarianSass - Hope now that Starbucks has begun its #RaceTogether campaign we'll begin to take the issues of cream privilege & milk supremacy seriously.
Peter S. Dee @PeeteySDee - Welcome to #Starbucks! Please don't ask for your coffee "black."
Nerdy Wonka @NerdyWonka - Apparently, in the @Starbucks world, this is what #RaceTogether looks like. http://news.starbucks.com/leadership
    -    @Baker-Bone @BakerBone - Can I get a venti Carmel Macchiato but put the whipped cream in first today....I'm tired of the white always being on top! #RaceTogether
    -   Kilolo @DisHereHarpo - Me when I get my drink and I see #RaceTogether written on it
    -    Dan Joseph @DanJoseph78 - 'Yet another successful shakedown. Now, back to evading my taxes.'#RaceTogether
    -    PaulaCarvin @paula_carvin - Breaking, McDonalds begins a campaign to discuss capital punishment. #RaceTogether
OH COOL. Isn’t Sedona BEAUTIFUL? We went on the back end of a trip to the Grand Canyon, then wished we had saved a couple days to explore south of Sedona area, too.
VERY nice looking place! Was it a vacation rental home?
We got one on the NC Outer Banks(OBX) a few years ago. Was very nice. Love how they’re all fully furnished with all the nice amenities one could ask for, and was on a private beach.
We drove all the way out to Greer last year from Texas during Spring Break to ski. Much better than fighting the crowds in New Mexico and Colorado.
On the Starbucks thing, I like my coffee strong and black. NAVY COFFEE!! Maybe with a little JP-5 in it (just joking).
Way back in 1989, I was one of many NUGs at my unit. It was my turn to make the coffee. I didn't drink it, and didn't know how to use the coffeemaker they had. It was a huge percolator type. I filled the entire basket full of grounds.
Never had to make coffee again.
Same here.
I have an old coffee maker that is kinda like an old grill. The more I use the grill, the more BBQ deposits are left on it, and the stronger the flavor.
The same coffee tasted different from my coffee maker or a new clean one.
If she really did that, I’d have the chair burned. The stench will NEVER come out.
Well, with coffee that is too strong you can always add some water. My brother, who is in all other ways a stand up guy, makes coffee that is see through, and there is nothing you can do to improve the flavor. Yuck I would rather drink hot water
