China's new superjet will take to the skies for the first time in test flights later this year. The C919, built by the Commercial Aircraft Corporation of China (COMAC), will be the country's most ambitious effort to date to break into the global aircraft market. The latest pictures have shown the final assembly work on the nation's first single-aisle airliner, which is currently under construction in Shanghai, is well underway.

The overhead bins are Boeing, circa 1985. My gut tells me they won’t get an FAA Airworthiness Certificate any time soon.
If their planes are like their indigenous cars, expect many, many, fatalities.
Wikipedia says tires, engines and avionics to be sourced from existing European/ American suppliers. Likely until they can come up with chinese engines, avionics and tires that won’t cause it to skid off the runway or fall out of the sky.

I love 737’s. A reliable workhorse with a great safety record.
But, don’t laugh at the Chinese. This plane will be a threat to Boeing. After all, since Clinton’s era, trade secrets and know-how has not trickled, but FLOWED to the Red Chinese. They make assemblies and parts for all sorts of folks.
They are both a commercial and military threat to us that we must be prepared to counter and overwhelm. There is no “co-existing” with these people, any more than with muslims.

Bombarier’s new twin jet is much more of a threat in the market than this aircraft.
I believe that US firms have been making the precision parts for this bird for some time.
We will see, I guess. I just don’t want to be on an inaugural flight!
Should speed up take-out and laundry deliveries. Volunteer test pilots are being offered commuted prison sentences. Those with flying experience are being taken off the voluntary organ donor program and reportedly receive an extra fortune cookie after their thrice-weekly supper.
The new plane shares many hi-tech components with the Huffy Beach Cruiser, a perennial favorite at Wal-Mart.
I’m not laughing at the Chinese. In time they’ll either develop or steal designs for more effective engines, avionics and tires. But first they’ll try them on their own people. The chinese don’t mind killing their own people. But don’t kill Europeans or Amricans, that would be bad for business.

I must admit that the only reason I'm wary of Brazilian made aircraft is because I've traveled there and was particularly unimpressed with just about everything I saw there.For example...staying in a mid-level hotel in Rio (not $500 a night but not $50 either) I happened to mention to the desk clerk that I was drinking the tap water.In a shocked tone he said "oh no,sir,it's not at all wise to drink the tap water in this city".
If a country can't even provide clean tap water in its most important city I'm not gonna trust its ability to build a safe aircraft.
Just sayin....
I was in Rio at a fairly upscale hotel. The clerk spoke perfect English and asked me if I’d ever been to Rio before. When I said no, he went over how important it was to never drink the tap water. He also went as far to say that I should use the complementary bottled water to rinse my mouth out when brushing my teeth. Also he warned when I order drinks don’t get drinks with ice in them! Beer was the safest bet. Only the locals have the constitution to handle the water in Rio and only small amounts at a time.
In preparation for my first visit to Africa many years ago I consulted with an Infectious Disease specialist that I knew who was on the staff of the hospital where I was working at the time.He gave me that very same advice as well as many other bits of advice.As a result we were brushing our teeth with orange soda (which was widely available for some reason) for my entire trip.
Maybe I'm being overly cautious about Brazilian aircraft...who knows!
