This Oz sheila newsanchor / movie-critic gives her right devastating review of the movie.

I also see she has no plans to ever read the book, as well as one very unhappy and unlucky husband the night she went to see the movie.

Wonder of wonders, there ARE some normal females out there. Thankfully.

I was handed the book by a ‘friend’ of mine. I read one paragraph and handed it back saying ummmm no thanks. Stunned I was asked if I was a prude. I said no but that I only spent my time on things that were at least somewhat well written and I had no interest in reading about sick bondage from childish writers

We haven’t talked since....lucky for me

I keep reading about how women love this book. And then can not help but wonder why women are always portrayed as so much more intelligent and superiour to men in popular culture.

Have to admit I would stay well away from anyone who considers the book or movie as somehow a worthwhile read or at all viewable.

Don’t plan on reading the book or watching the movie, ever. Even so, the theme is in my face all the time-I’ve decided not to shop at Target due to the 50 Shades “toys” they sell now.

As my husband said, why isn’t normal, healthy and loving sex enough? It is quite disturbing to see the use of another person for selfish gratification (no love or affection from him)celebrated as sexy. Shouldn’t women dream of being cherished rather than of being an object who is there solely for his satisfaction?

I suppose it’s just one more step towards the destruction of family by normalizing an act that is a perversion of what God intended for a man and his wife.

I read the synopsis and the first paragraph and thought, “Yikes!”

Essentially, it’s as far as I got too. I write creatively as a hobby and am not the best scribe, but that was bad.

Ehrmm... “superior”, not “superiour”. *laugh*

Don’t know how I missed that one. :)

I thought all the cheery addins from the other anchors was quite helpful as well. Nice to know there are still some normal people about this day and age.

Is this the gal that said it was the worst movie she’s ever seen?

I’ve actually heard a number of people say that, but for a movie critic to say it is pretty bad. Those people watch A LOT of movies, many of which are not so good.

One of my high school students went to see it and said it’s the worst movie she had ever seen.

Hmmm. Now I am glad there is no Target store locally, as selling those types of “toys” would be all I needed to avoid it at all costs. Probably any persons who would purchase such products as well.

I believe she said that, yes. What I find so hard to understand is why so many women are so earbashingly enthusiastic about the book and demanded the movie in the first place.

Praise the lord. She sounds like a nice normal girl and I hope she does well with such a healthy mindset. Glad to hear there are still some good ones out there.

50 Shades TOYS????? Quite the concerted marketing/brainwashing effort was planned - and for a movie and book that are reportedly incredibly awful but is still getting a ton of promotion. This must be seen as another way to tear apart the traditional family.

Sex without love isn’t all that fun - IMO.

Okay, I did not read the book. However, I have had portions read to me.

I have a co-worker who has a chip on her shoulder about me because I can generally discuss literature with others and she feels left out because she doesn’t read books. She wanted to impress me one day - she had read herself a book! - and so proceeded to tell me about this great book. You guessed it - Fifty Shades of Grey. I told her that kind of book was not my cup of tea but she continued to go on about how wonderful it was - EVERYONE at her pool just loved it! I told her I was glad she enjoyed it but I still wasn’t planning on reading it - REALLY not my cup of tea.

Well, the next day she brings the book in to work and decided to read a few passages to me. After a couple of paragraphs I thought she was having me on; perhaps she was reading a parody from The Onion. But she’s really not that subtle with her pranks, so I soon realized (to my horror) that she was probably reading from the actual book. Not wanting to tee her off by accusing her of pranking me, I asked to see the cover of the book. Sure enough, no prank was being pulled.

I really feel sorry for anyone who has wasted a moment of their finite time upon the earth reading that book.

Well, HELLO! I'm a just turned 50, rock GUITAR playing, conservative woman. We're a bit of a rarity, it seems. Live in BLUE BLUE Puget Sound (Seattle area) and it's hilarious when we play gigs and folks assume I'm liberal, till they get to know me. Wish I had a bike myself. Have no desire to read the book or see the movie. Even my teenage son and his girlfriend say it's nothing but porn!

You and I are in full agreement on that. However, I worry more about the types of people who not only read the full book, but also the sequels and praise it to everyone else. Then they make a movie about it?

Which is why I found this vid so hilarious and highly enjoyable. :)
