The most important tax reform we can do is abolish the IRS, Texas Sen. Ted Cruz told the fired-up audience.
The firebrand senator compared the EPA to a locust and got a huge reaction when he demanded to repeal every word of ObamaCare.
Sarah Palin, too, after telling reporters shes thinking about a 2016 run, laced her speech with snappy one-liners as she lit into the current president.
Of Obama, she said: America, hes just not that into you. The 2008 GOP vice presidential nominee also knocked the idea of a Hillary Clinton run.
Hey Iowa, can anyone stop Hillary? To borrow a phrase, yes, we can! she said.
Former Arkansas Gov. Mike Huckabee, New Jersey Gov. Chris Christie and former Texas Gov. Rick Perry who was interrupted by immigration protesters helped closed out the daylong event. Wisconsin Gov. Scott Walker and former Pennsylvania Sen. Rick Santorum spoke earlier.
Christie also was interrupted by a protester in the crowd. Unlike Perry, who kept talking through it, Christie couldnt resist. Dont they know I am from New Jersey? This stuff doesnt bother me one bit, he said.
Carson, who has been flirting with the idea of a 2016 presidential run, told the crowd the next president should "make it their goal to seal the border within a year."

It will never be repealed.
So true. Almost every GOP Congressman and Senator ran and campaign speech after press release after TV commercial - "I will vote to repeal ObamaCare as my #1 initiative!"
Yeah, right.
Just as we predicted back in 2010, once ObamaCare passed and became yet another entitlement, the Democrats knew that you can never take away an entitlement.
We had lunch in our office last month, and everyone's health insurance premiums cost came up. When people talked about repealing ObamaCare, the liberals chimed in with: "What 'cha gonna do? Take away insurance for 5 million people and subsidies for millions of working families with children?"
We knew the strategy was to give away Trillions in candy to the Takers, and ruin the health insurance industry for everyone else.
Well, they succeeded. We are all socialists now.
Even the person who knows Hillary best would choose an inexperienced stranger over her.
The democrat voters did too, back in 2008. Obviously, it would be easy to find a replacement for Hillary. The only question is whether the democrats will try.
Put Ted Cruz in the White House and see how long the abominable, super hated by the American people, Obamacare lasts. Cruz already brought the government to a halt trying to stop Obamacare, even with King Zamanuda in the White House.
My Dad used to say, there's no such thing as a temporary tax. President Reagan said the closest thing to immortality is a government program. Once a tax or program is implemented, it never goes away.
Perhaps the IRS and the EPA can be overhauled. Lord knows, both of them need reform. But I'm not going to hold my breath. There again, the politicians are beholden to a certain group of people — this time, it's government workers.
I’d prefer ‘KILL IT WITH FIRE’!
Pretty much. Whatever they do now from on will be a variation on the same theme.
Defeatism, you know, like RINOs? Don't be offended, there are many here that think like you.
OTH, if being offended brings you around then by all means, please be offended.
He won’t need a conservative congress. All he needs (If he gets into the White House), is a Republican congress, which he will have. He will own the party by then, like every president before him has. I doubt if Bonehead will be Speaker with Ted Cruz in the White House. We will see.
What it boils down to: You want to repeal Obamacare, vote Ted Cruz. He is the only one that is fiercely determined a day will do whatever it takes to kill that abomination.
I can recall only one federal agency being shut down in my lifetime. It was the US Department of Mines & Minerals...
They could act now to accomplish those things.
“A lot of rhetoric, but the reality is that Obamacare, the IRS and the EPA are all here to stay”
Never say never, the full effects of Obamacare have yet to be felt. Suppose, just suppose Cruz wins the nomination, recall Reagan won after he was ridiculed and given no chance.
“A lot of rhetoric, but the reality is that Obamacare, the IRS and the EPA are all here to stay.”
Yep. This is just a bit of posturing and throwing out some red meat right.
If any of these get the nomination then they’ll go back to the middle.
Bottom line is that it takes more than just conservatives to win the WH.
Our only hope is for a well organized grassroots endeavor. We can't do things willy-nilly like the opposition to Boehner and McConnell. The liberal Republicans are a well-oiled machine who will stop at nothing (including voter fraud) to get their boot licker nominated. We have to be stronger. If we can't get Ted Cruz the Republican nomination, we have to be prepared to mobilize a strong, well financed third party or write-in effort.
By the way, I'm not being defeatist. I'm being realistic. There is a strong number of conservatives who will vote for whoever the party anoint — just so he or she has an R after their name. We have to get others to stop throwing up their hands and surrendering because the party gave the nomination to its fair haired boy. Those are the defeatists.
You know, if you're going to try to go do a Reader's Digest and provide Free Republic with little snippets of the actual article, the least you could do is give us the paragraph that tell us who "Carson" is:
"It included big names like Cruz and Christie, but also some rising stars, like Ben Carson, a neurosurgeon who has reinvented himself as an outspoken conservative and won an enthusiastic following in the process."
