According to court records, in 1988 a 16-year-old Mr Wahlberg brutally attacked a Vietnamese man named Thanh Lam with a stick while spewing racial epithets and knocking him unconscious. Seeing police, Mr Wahlberg fled and found Hoa Trinh, another Vietnamese man. He put his hand around Mr Trinh's shoulder and asked the man to help him hide.
After the police cars had passed, Mr Wahlberg punched Mr Trinh in the eye, permanently blinding him. According to the police report, during his arrest the future actor used several anti-Asian slurs. He served 45 days of a three-month sentence, all while maintaining that the crimes were not racially motivated.
Today, however, Mr Wahlberg says he's a changed man - who wants a liquor licence for his restaurant.
"I am deeply sorry for the actions that I took on the night of 8 April, 1988, as well as for any lasting damage that I may have caused the victims," he writes in the petition. "Since that time, I have dedicated myself to becoming a better person and citizen so that I can be a role model to my children and others."
A pardon would legally free Mr Wahlberg up for more than just a liquor licence for his family's Boston-based restaurant, Wahlburgers.

Whether dogs, girlfriend/wife...kids etc.
It's not like he was 6 when he did this.
LOL I'm not sure this qualifies as "personal growth"?
"....my faith will never waver because of people who are weak in the flesh." Wahlberg adds of his religious lifestyle, "Being a Catholic and also being a husband and a parent definitely makes me think a little bit longer and harder about the (movie) choices I make, but being an artist I've got to be able to have the freedom to try things that I want to do. So I just weigh those decisions up. Everything comes in to play."
-- from the thread Mark Wahlberg wants church clean-up after sex scandal"Walhberg is hardly a friend to gun owners. In 2000, at the MTV Movie Awards, Wahlberg suggested the Best Villain award should go to Charlton Heston of the NRA. I believe Charlton Heston is Americas best villain because he loves guns so much. Maybe he should get the award for being president of the National Rifle Association, Wahlberg said. In a 2007 story in the Australian Herald-Sun, Wahlberg contradicted his earlier interview in Visual Hollywood. In the Herald-Sun, Wahlberg was quoted as saying, Well, I would love it if they could take all the guns away Certainly, I havent used a gun anywhere other than on a movie set and Id like to see if we could take them all away. It would be a beautiful thing.

“After the police cars had passed, Mr Wahlberg punched Mr Trinh in the eye, permanently blinding him. “
Wow, talk about bad reporting. Trinh was blinded by a grenade during the Vietnam war, not from the punch.
Well, has he made reparations to the guy he blinded?
Has the guy he blinded said I forgive this dude for blinding me, so we all should?
Women and minorities hardest hit (except asians)
Celebutards need to shut up and stick to their scripts
If you read the article, the guy says he was blinded before he came to America.
He didn’t blind anyone.
That’s not what I read in this article on the same subject:
“After fleeing the scene where he assaulted Lam, Wahlberg beat his second victim, Hoa Trinh, punching him in the eye and leaving him blind.”
so hmmmm...
From above:
“After the police cars had passed, Mr Wahlberg punched Mr Trinh in the eye, permanently blinding him. According to the police report, during his arrest the future actor used several anti-Asian slurs. He served 45 days of a three-month sentence, all while maintaining that the crimes were not racially motivated.”
Color me confused.
Much like Marg Helgenberger, of China Beach and CSI tv show fame, and other actors who claim to hate guns but somehow can put that aside when their roles, aka paychecks, call for them.
You should be confused.

Hey, who among us hasn’t blinded a Vietnamese guy?
Celebutard Privilege
Ok?
Well, I am.
“After the police cars had passed, Mr Wahlberg punched Mr Trinh in the eye, permanently blinding him”
If Mr Trinh is ok with him being pardoned, then it’s ok I suppose.
Otherwise, do unconfuse me, because as far as I can see he blinded the man by punching him in the eye...
The Smoking Gun website posted his Suffolk Superior Court papers in 1997. Heres what they said:
In 1986, then 15, the future underwear model and two pals chased a 12-year-old black boy and his older brother and sister as they walked home from Savin Hill Beach.
We dont like black (expletive) in the area so get the (expletive) away from the area, one of the teens said. They threw rocks and yelled, Kill the (expletive), kill the (expletive).
The next day, the black boy saw Wahlberg and his two pals while on a school field trip to Savin Hill Beach. Those three and others followed the students and their teacher back to their school. They yelled racial epithets and threw rocks
I frequented the parts of Dorchester where these guys hung out during the mid 80s. If you want to call Michael Brown a thug, Mark Wahlberg was a thug but we called them punks back then. They were a pain in the ass just hanging around drinking, getting high, and bothering people trying to mind their own business.
“I am deeply sorry for the actions that I took on the night of 8 April, 1988, as well as for any lasting damage that I may have caused the victims,” he writes in the petition.
Right in that statement, he denies his responsibility. The truth is, Wahlberg blinded a man and beat another unconscious and of course there’s lasting damage, yet he pretends the damage is subjective with the words “that I may have caused.” Yes, you caused lifelong damage you moron, stop denying it and accept responsibility for their damage, not yours.
