SEATTLE'S MINIMUM WAGE CRASH: $15 to ZERO! Profit's Take A Nosedive!

Seattle, Washington, one of the strongest remaining bastions of liberal philosophy left in the country, passed a phased-in $15 minimum wage law earlier this year. The highest minimum wage in the country. The vote was unanimous and the throng outside cheered, but for many this is a loss from which they will never recover. It is a blow to the profitability of business that they just can't take.

“Liberals have to learn the hard way.”

Wish that were true. Seems to me that no matter how many times a liberal idea or whatever fails to work, they immediately claim they’ve learned their lesson and promptly repeat the same thing in the same way which failed before.

Here’s a few day old report directly from the horse’s mouth (none of this makes sense):

“The $15 minimum wage is a good thing because too many people are trapped in minimum wage jobs for years and are desperate. Its only fair to help them get out of poverty.” (These poor people are evidently unable to find or qualify for some other higher paying job).

This, from a liberal female who has been unemployed for a year, lives in subsidized housing, collects L&I (or WorkComp), plans to “milk the system” and find grants to go back to school. (This will be at least the fourth or fifth attempt - all previous attempts failed for one excuse or another).

When it was pointed out that many low income inner city types don’t care about raising the minimum wage, as there are no jobs available, she responded with a sharp edge to her voice, “There are plenty of jobs.”

Now for all you FRers who would attempt to interject reason and common sense, realize that such an attempt would elicit a blistering personal attack. Seems to me that they do this because the whole of the liberal mind set is an emotional and personal. To question is to be attacked, so they respond in kind.

As someone here said, “It is impossible to reason with a committed liberal.” Unless of course, one likes screaming matches and needs to get a high on adrenaline ...

Or “This isn’t The One we were waiting for...”

Yep. Soon The One will be Hillary. They’ll say barack had a lot of the right ideas but he just wasn’t effective at getting it done.

Hillary will have the same agenda as Hussein. It will be one big repackaged pile of $#%&^.

"Liberals have to learn the hard way."

Perhaps liberals do, but the Seattle city council is made up on die hard communists. They will NEVER learn.

“odds are you’ll be ordering it from a kiosk.”

Recently, Taco Bell released their iPhone app. I can now order before I head out to TB, even repeating orders I’ve done before. Once there it pops up and I tap the “picking up inside/outside” button and wait. The staff is amused by the new ordering method and even knows me by name now.

...but now there isn’t anyone constantly staffing the register (which is surrounded with “use our new app!” signs). I can see the jobs evaporating already. Not a lot, not fast, but a definite decline.

Panera, Moe’s, Chipotle, and others are doing the same. They’ve solved the “kiosk” issues by realizing customers already have the kiosk in their pockets. Walk in, pick up, reduced staff interaction. No more bored people standing in line, no more stalling on trying to get an order right, no more fiddling with cash or plastic.

At $9 for a Big Mac there won’t be any Big Macs: I can pick up a 1/3rd pound of real meat with real toppings for $9 at Fudruckers or some other “better burger” place.

Why go to McDonald’s when it’s priced no different than the next tier up?

Government does not have the right to dictate a minimum or maximum hourly pay rate. Any law that so orders is invalid.

That didn’t work for me. I was trying to give the site more traffic by copying an excerpt and posting it on another site, but I guess they don’t grasp that this is a good thing for them.

Welcome to the reality of communism: faced with the reality of its failings, it must prevent people from leaving.

That’s why I’m nervous about the Right’s shrill calls for a border fence: fences stop movement _both_ways_.

I agree with you in theory. They also don't have the right to tell you who you must hire, or who you must rent to, but in reality they do all of those things.

We are a long ways away from where this nation started with the concept of "natural rights."

That’s what I love about ordering from Domino’s. Order online, then drive thru and my pizza is right there waiting.

Exactly. San Francisco has raised its minimum wage to $15, also, to go up incrementally to that over three years. I already know I will be switching from the San Francisco Costco and Safeway (grocery stores) to neighboring Daly City. Also any fast food purchases I make, which are only maybe once a month anyway. No coffee purchases in the city, either. Gas, outside San Francisco. Clothing. Because the prices are going to get substantially higher and my income is NOT going up.

They won’t learn.

They NEVER connect the policies that made them feel good about themselves for supporting

with the obvious (to us) consequences thereof.

$15? So, fire half of your workers, keep the best half, pay them $15/hr and work them twice as hard.

But, what of the half that got fired? Welfare! That’s the end game. More and more leeches.

For whatever reason, I cannot highlight text on that website. I had to search the web just to find a means of enabling right clicks on that web site. Apparently you've got some different browser settings than I do.

One web site said that these tricks could be disabled by disabling Javascript, but I did that and it didn't work.

Don't know exactly what is going on, but i'm pretty sure it is some sort of html/javascript B*llsh*t.
