“I’ll Come To Your Place When SHTF” – No You Won’t
SHTF Plan ^ | 10/22/14 | Glen Tate

Posted on 10/24/2014 8:03:16 PM PDT by Kartographer

I tried to persuade you to prepare for what’s coming and, in the process, revealed that to you that I’m preparing. You realized that I have food, guns, etc., and ended up saying, half kidding but half serious, “I’ll come to your place when SHTF.”

No you won’t. I will shoot you. If you threaten me and my family, I will use force to defend against any threat. And showing up at my place hungry and unprepared is a threat to me. You will eat my food and use up my medical supplies, generator, firewood, etc. That’s less of these life-saving things for me and my family. That’s a threat.

Is this greed on my part? No. I will take care of the truly needy – those who cannot take care of themselves. But you are different. Very different. You had plenty of chances to prepare for yourself.

I have debated posting this as it is a hard subject for many including myself.

Me personally I think it will depend on the nature of the event. and the degree and the chance and the timing for some normalcy to return.

There is also this it won't just be the liberal deadbeats 'gib-me-dats' who will want your stuff. Many fellow conservatives on this forum have directly on indirectly indicated that you should share in what they are positive is the highly unlikely event of a SHTF nature.

Many of these types will at first react with total disbelief that something of SHTF nature even occurred and it will take them sometime to even grasp the fact that they are now in it deep.

Then when they grasp just how deep they are in it should they know anyone who prepared they will run not walk to them for help. And woe be that prepper family, friend or acquaintance if you don't rightfully share.

They will be sure to be full of righteous anger as they have always considered preppars more or less with the same words Obama used as be unintelligent people who cling to their guns and Bibles.

If hell has no fury as that of a woman scorned it isn't nothing compared to someone who considers themself above the 'rabble' and hoi polloi in every way proven wrong.

The gib-me-dats hate us already and we know that, but the haut monde when they find those whom they scorned and derided to be right and able to cope with something they can barely believe to be happening.

Reminds me of a certain Twilight Zone episode.

The Shelter

I have a good answer for freeloaders like that.

I tell them, "good! We may be running low on fresh meat by the time you arrive. Would you like your carcass to be barbecued, roasted or boiled?"

I wish someone would show people like us, poor as church mice and disabled, how to “prep” for what’s coming. Thanks.

I gotta admit.
The guys at my work tel me that if the zombies take over, they’re coming to my house.
I tell them, “Don’t bother.”
I’ll be at my workplace with my family in an area where there’s only one way in or out, there’s ample water supply, and loads of food.

The railcar entrance/loading area at Coors Brewing Company in Golden, Colorado.
Next to a river.
Loads of bleach to sterilize the water.
And tons of bunnies and deer to keep us fed.

Getting there might be a bitch, but I have a Jeep. I’ll follow the river by my house upstream.

Plus...

My oldest Son is an amazing shot with a rifle.

I've told my two adult children who live several hundred miles away in large cities that they can come here if SHTF.....that includes two grandchildren....

they just roll their eyes....

but we live on 5 acres...have three bathrooms, a large kitchen,a double garage and a big shop, with a walk in cooler and meat shop....we have fenced off garden space...we have many food items and canning equipment, etc...

we'd have to get used to living together but it could be done....

one way to look at it is the more people you have on your side, the better it is for safety...it would add two more grown men to the household, even though my hubby is man enough for three, it still would be good...

How to prep on an extremely tight budget – even if you’re on food stamps…

If you didn’t post that, I would have, it’s a great demonstration of human nature at its’ worst.

Even after Hurricane Katrina I didn’t receive food stamps, even though that was the one time I really needed them. The people at the government office let me know, in no uncertain terms, that I was the guy who PAID for food stamps, not received them.

Yeah, but we have thousands of gallons on hand in various places.
It should be enough until we can acquire a batch of filters.
We have a bunch now, but more couldn’t hurt.

I’ll go to Alex Jones’ house when SHTF because for sure he’ll be first off to the camps.

By that time you would have a easier time finding a lost contact at the beach that to find someone like him.

I hope that you have a large generator and a very large store of gasoline.

Most of us are in built up infrastructure areas, urban, suburban, exurban that will have difficulty surviving SHTF+90 days.

You can stockpile nourishment, water, batteries, ammo and fuel only so long. You can't be self sufficient beyond so many months. If you are elderly you will hit many walls concerning needed meds, sanitation etc.

I’ve told my family they can come here but they better not come empty handed.

I would share my house with my son’s families but the rest would have to live in shop, office and camp trailers.
