they just roll their eyes....
but we live on 5 acres...have three bathrooms, a large kitchen,a double garage and a big shop, with a walk in cooler and meat shop....we have fenced off garden space...we have many food items and canning equipment, etc...
we'd have to get used to living together but it could be done....
one way to look at it is the more people you have on your side, the better it is for safety...it would add two more grown men to the household, even though my hubby is man enough for three, it still would be good...
I hope that you have a large generator and a very large store of gasoline.
I’ve told my family they can come here but they better not come empty handed.
I would share my house with my son’s families but the rest would have to live in shop, office and camp trailers.
“with a walk in cooler and meat shop”
Pretty neat! How’d you get a walk in cooler?
There's only one condition ... All such guests better be willing to work to the best of their abilities....and the work will be virtually non-stop.
People roll their eyes at me until they find out what I have, and then they get real interested. None ofy family members want to see me when I drive by their place, but when I mentioned I had free cruise tickets, all of a sudden I became a real interesting person. I give up. The same plays out during hard times.
Yes, those eye rolls. Zombies would be camped out on our adult kids’ couches before they’d even consider moving in with stooopid and totally uncool mom and dad but they’d be hard pressed for a better bug out place. I put detailed paper maps in their cars for when their iphones aren’t working. Check your local tourist centers for free maps. Many will have maps showing back roads which will come in handy when highways are clogged. Pick up areas outside the direct route home because they may have to make wide detours. Not that they’ll listen, but ask if they’d try making a run using only side streets to get out of the city.
