Anybody else Vape???
djf

Posted on 09/16/2014 2:07:38 AM PDT by djf

After having been a smoker for just about 40 years, I made the plunge.

I was very surprised - it pretty much totally eliminated the urge to smoke! Well, except for the hand thingy... but it took away the urge!

It's been ten days so far. I have a nearby pack of smokes sittin around if need be.

Curious about others situations and experiences.

“it’s disgusting just like smoking is”

Well, Boo-freaking-hoo for you, Mr/Ms. perfect.

If you have never smoked, then you have no clue what you are talking about.

Lots of good positive comments on vaping. Good luck to those who use them to quit and stay quit. For those few self righteous who choose to post good luck to you too, whatever your vice may be.

It’s no more disgusting than people who judge by how something looks!

I quit cold turkey April, 2009 after 50 years of smoking. I’ve described before on multiple threads of the topic what I did, so I won’t go over it again, but it did not include anything but quitting smoking. No E cigs, no Nicorette, nothing. Just quit smoking, and it was easy.

I did the same with booze in 1997. Just quit. I wasn’t an alcoholic, but had my habits. Life has been much better since. Quitting the habits was the best thing I ever did besides asking Mrs. RQSR to be my wife, and her sayin’ yes back in ‘77.

I gave up a habit for a hobby

Call it what you want, but it's an addiction.

Approaching three years for me...our dentist actually turned us onto Vapor 4 Life, which he uses....I started off going 50/50 between e-cigs and tobacco "analogs" (Vaper terminology....), and took a week to finish off my last cig pack.

They work like a charm. I get a kick out of 'stealth vaping' in verboten places like doctor's offices, etc. BTW, our various docs are all fine with our using these.

No, but I do ask smokers why they haven’t switched to vaping. A couple of my son’s friends, primarily.

My mom does.

She started out about 3 years ago with a Vapor 4 Life and used it about 6 months and then started having problems with the battery life and with issues going on with family went back to real cigs.

In December she started with a Foos (made here in MO) and some other brands (eGo, Zig Zag ect) since then and hasn’t went back to real again. She has saved a lot of money even with having to buy new tips (she keeps dropping it or it falls out of her pockets) or a new kit because the smoke shop keeps bringing in new brands.

She will hopefully be able to quit all eventually. She had quit around the time I was born but when she went back to work when I was about 7 or 8 she started again.

Most of my family smokes, I have smoked a total of a few packs in my life (tried it before I was even a teen) the last time was in 1999. It never did anything for me. I am addicted to other things however. It isn’t a good idea to mess with me if I don’t have my ice to chew. Partly because I tend to be anemic and it is a habit to have my cup of ice to chew on at all times. Even in winter. I get very cranky if I don’t have it.

I have enjoyed the last few months with no smoking in my mom’s van except when another family member is with us.
I forget how bad they can smell in a small space until someone lights up.

Well!

As of tonight, I’m 21 days (3 weeks) without a ciggie.

I still use the Smart Smokes, but have tried (and not really liked) the Njoys.

But it is interesting that the Njoy fluid works in the Smart Smokes, so I’ll probably do that.

Cigarettes? Well, I occasionally miss the flavor... but not enough!

Just don't vape recreational drugs and you should be OK. My state is growing druggie vaping crud and they look like unemployable zombies to me.

Wow!

Today is THIRTY FIVE DAYS since I had a smoke!

Once in a while I get a pretty strong urge to smoke... but haven’t.
At least not yet! Fingers crossed!

Quit smoking, started vaping on 12/9/09.

Currently, I use Kanger Mini-Protank 3, with some sort of big ol’ carbon fiber-wrapped batteries. They last about two days before I have to charge ‘em up.

I carry two e-cigs. One’s loaded with unflavored nicotine fluid (36%; strong) that tastes like tobacco (so THAT’S where the flavor comes from...), the other is filled with butterscotch.

I have quite a bit of obsolete equipment in boxes all over the place. One of these days, I’m just going to toss it.

E-cigs saved my life.

Of that, I am absolutely sure.

Here’s a great list of ingredients and how they are used. Nothing harmful in an e-cig. Much better than cigarettes for sure.

Amazing!

Today is FIFTY DAYS since I had a smoke!

Now I have pretty much discarded the throw-away types, the Smart Smokes.
Have gotten instead a more permanent type solution, two of the clear tops, and three batteries. One is an Njoy and one is a JustFog.

The actual e-juice I use has varied. The shop I go to won’t let me hold it and look. so I have to stand back and ask to look at the nicotine amount... it’s an old Chinese guy who owns it, I thing I might try to find another joint.
But I have settled on Freedom at 18mg nicotine, and Two Peas at 24mg nicotine. I have a few less powerful types as a back up so no sweat!

Also, it took a while to figure out filling the damn thing - if you have tried, and can’t figure it out, be persistent! Some of them can take a bit of practice.

Once in a while I think about having a smoke, but it passes very fast,
