Rhodisian Ridgeback and (so sue me) Pits.
Pits tend to be a little clingy, but is nice to be worshiped.

It’s a cult.
I’ve had Ibizan Hounds and a Portuguese Podengo Medio for over 24 years.
They’re cults, too.
[but the DobeCult rules them all]

I've never met a dog I didn't like I've never met a person I didn't like who's never met a dog he didn't like. Fact.

I’ve known a couple 16 year old greyhounds but 12 years seems common. Cancer seems to take a large percentage by age 5~6. We used to be coordinators for Greyhounds pets of America on the Southwest side of Houston.

My wife is going on a three week trip next month. Our daughter is going to loan me one of her dogs for that time so I will be forced to stay on a schedule. Up in the morning for walks and have to skip that extra beer each night. The Ridgie for half the time and the pit mix for the other. The two have different needs and personalities. But they both require a *lot* of exercise, especially now that it is cooling off. And the deer are out, very stimulating for them.

My greyhound can keep a schedule better than me. The only thing that will keep him from his appointed rounds is a raging thunderstorm. If I try to sleep in on my day off he will get on the bed and stand on me to wake me up.

“Outdoors - not so great. Keep them on a leash for if they decide to run, catching them is next to impossible.”
That’s that last thing I have to worry about with my Aussies - they stay close to me. On the other hand, they seem very concerned that *I* will run away, given the chance.
