An eruption by Europe's most active volcano has sent a tower of sparks and fire into the sky around it.

The plume of ash rising from Mount Etna can be seen across much of eastern Sicily. Its eruptions are not infrequent, but the last major one occurred in 1992.

The nearest airport and airspace were forced to close temporarily but none of the villages on the slopes of the mountain have been forced to evacuate so far.

I guess it depends on the slope angle or something and Texas is really flat for the most part

I think the sign might be a bit unnecessary when you can see the lava behind it

When I was on the USS JFK back in the Seventies (no, not the POMPEII Seventies!) we could see the red glow reflecting off the clouds at night when we transited the Straits of Messina.

I was up looking at it one dark night (just beautiful) and they called a man overboard...they never did find the guy, and some people thought he was going to jump and try to swim to shore.

"The idea of lava landing on me gives me the heebie jeebies"

Don't worry - you'd burst into flames before the lava hit you.

US grid is in rough shape from all I've heard...and Obama isn't about to invest in it IMO...he's too occupied giving money to Green energy company's so he can siphon money off the top as they fail.....

Taormina is full of beautiful scenes as you walk the streets, in the 20th century Taormina has been known as a refuge

I know it’s really sad and hard to believe this is happening. For the first time in my life I am thinking about how much better it must be in other places in the world today.
