America will not achieve President Obamas goal of 1 million electric cars on the road by 2015. This is despite large subsidies from the federal government and many states for making batteries and vehicles as well as additional subsidies for purchasing these vehicles. Very few consumers are interested in expensive cars with limited range and the anxiety of not knowing if the battery charge will last for their entire journey. As a result, manufacturers are dropping prices in order to sell the vehicles they are forced to produce. First Nissan slashed prices of its plug-in vehicles early this year, then Ford, Honda, Daimler and GM cut their electric vehicle prices and/or leases in order to entice consumers to purchase them even while losing money on each vehicle sale

Thanks for this update on coal burning cars.
Could you imagine the resale value of these things as the batteries age?
However, the golf carts do not spontaneously combust.
Somehow I doubt too many kids working their first job will save up $500 to $1500 to buy one used.
The natural next step is to force people to buy electric cars, or penalize them for buying gas-powered ones.
The next natural step then could be “The Affordable Automobile Act”, where citizens are required to buy heavily taxpayer subsidized undependable electric cars at low prices or be fined each year by the IRS enormous sums of money.
In the act will be death panels for your current car where a bunch of lefties decides when it goes to the junk yard.
The work week will be slashed to 20 hours.
etc, etc, etc
price war to attract a dwindling number of buyers
lolz
Obamacars for the “poor”
How can this be ?? I keep seeing the ads telling me that the Chevy Volt is the best selling electric car in America....
Coal is fading fast, down to 37% of US electric generation and dropping by the month.
True for all the crap cars like the Leaf... Not true for very well styled cars like the Tesla Model S. Shipped 4400 units last year and projections are for over 21,000 this year.
Chevy volt. UAW dolts.
Coal-burning....
Ain’t that the truth....nearly all the electrical energy that will be expended and used to inefficiently move an overpriced, government subsidized piece of underwhelming engineering will be provide by coal, oil/gas, and/or nuclear (where the libs haven’t choked the life out of them.)
Of course there'll be exemptions for Congress and staffers and their friends, union members, Democrats, ACORN staff, etc., etc.
Is that like being the fastest person with no arms and legs?
Don’t golf carts use old-fashioned car batteries?
It amazes me how engineers designing the newer golf carts could figure out how to add a low-cost protective enclosure, but those designing much higher priced government subsidized electric cars could not.
“However, the golf carts do not spontaneously combust.”
We should give them to the Taliban............
I meant the cars not the golf carts.....
