Jan. 14, 2009 -- A trio of new studies on prehistoric weapons suggests Neanderthals made sophisticated weapons and tools -- possibly including the first sticky adhesive -- but they lacked the projectile weapons possessed by early humans.
The missing technology, along with climate change and competition with arrow-shooting humans, may have contributed to the Neanderthals' eventual extinction.
"While we are not suggesting that modern humans were directing projectile weapons against Neanderthals, it is certainly possible that at times they did so," Steven Churchill, co-author of one of the papers, told Discovery News.

OMG, the early humans were driving around in SUVs, caused global warming, and that killed off the Neanderthals.

Hmmm...what skill set are we developing here? Maybe it's how to avoid the real world. ;-)
Maybe they made guns out of bamboo, sulfur, saltpeter and diamonds like captain Kirk.
Just as everything is caused by global warming so everything caused the demise of the neanderthals.
But they never made any green babes.
Only Kirk can do it ALL.
Scientists just wont let it rest that the Cro mags kicked their collective asses into the dust heap. Maybe we can pay reparations to people with red hair and freckles.
The Neanderthals, now known as DemocRATS, are still using those kinds of weapons. Whoops! No spearheads!
