The eruptions -- as big as the one that buried Pompei -- took place in 1999 along the Gakkel Ridge, an underwater mountain chain snaking 1,800 kilometres (1,100 miles) from the northern tip of Greenland to Siberia.
The eruptions (more than one), as big as Vesuvius... That's BIG.
I wonder how much CO2 those puppies put out...
given that the explosive nature of the eruptions is suggested to have been caused by big CO2 ‘bubbles’ TWO KILOMETERS beneath the sea floor, and under 13000 ft of sea water... and still spread debris over 10 square km, I’d venture a guess.... a lot.
