The irony is the original founder of PayPal, Elon Musk, is the biggest advocate of free speech on social platforms to the point he is trying to buy Twitter to make sure they don’t continue the censorship that Paypal is now trying to institute

Cancelled my account this morning.

Reverse or not doesn’t matter. Fact you thought you created such a policy at all shows me I have no need to do business with you.

Jumping through hoops trying to close my long-standing account. The PayPal system says it cannot be done because of a “pending transaction”; but neither my excellent records nor PayPal’s system shows any “pending transactions.” But I still cannot close the account and am waiting on a response to a help request I just submitted. In the meanwhile, I removed all of my financial info from the site (though I damn-well know they still have it ... forever!) Frustrating indeed ......

They’d have kept the policy and implemented it were it not for the kickback. DUMP them if you are a member is my recommendation. They started off as a money handling and transfer convenience. Today, the corporate culture wants to be more than that once they feel they’ve gotten a complete enough hold on your behavior.

The fascists at PayPal didn’t expect such a reaction. They thought the folks had been beaten down and conditioned sufficiently so as to accept a fascist “business” punishing them for their rebellious views. But there are enough uncastrated Americans remaining, and they rebelled against this gestapo tactic.

PayPal wouldn’t have done it if they didn’t know that the government would not touch them. The government was and is 100% on board with this little touch of the Stasi.

Recall biden’s nazi rant on September 1 in which he showed the world that he lovingly emulates The Great Fuhrer, except for the moustache.

It’s obvious to me that this little episode of PayPal is just testing the waters to see if this is the right moment for the government to take total control of all financial transactions, eliminating cash, and deciding what money you get to keep and what money the collectivity siphons off to give to people that it likes more than you.

It’s not the right moment. They’ll just have to organize and implement another Major Crisis which they will use as the Universal Excuse for setting the Fascist dial to 100%

Someone paying for a Walmart order can’t use Zelle or Venmo or CashApp. I think the question is: What types of payment do most vendors accept?

Canceled mine 15 years ago when they unbeknownst to me changed a default setting to pay by PayPal credit. The bills went to spam and my 1st notice was a phone call while at work. The b word greeted me with "Hello my little scofflaw".

Nice way to lose a good customer forever.

Who is getting fired? Is PayPal management pressing for criminal charges against hackers?

These are the big questions. It will be interesting to observe in the coming week if Paypal management just attempts to carry on as usual, or if we see some high profile firings.

The way the PayPal terms and AUP works...they can stalk you and find one of your “mis-information” comments...ANYWHERE! Not just on a PP supported website.

However, PayPal not fining people for misinformation is only one item, and does not cover "activities that.... are harmful ... or objectionable … (e) depict, promote, or incite hatred or discrimination of protected groups or of individuals or groups based on protected characteristics." And as the MSM article states:

And of this time Sunday 2pm, October 9, that language above is nevertheless still included in PayPal’s Acceptable Use Policy and its user agreement (here) states.
Which states,

If you’ve violated our Acceptable Use Policy, then you’re also responsible for damages to PayPal caused by your violation of this policy..You acknowledge and agree that $2,500.00 U.S. dollars per violation of the Acceptable Use Policy is presently a reasonable minimum estimate of PayPal’s actual damages - including, but not limited to, internal administrative costs incurred by PayPal to monitor and track violations, damage to PayPal’s brand and reputation, and penalties imposed upon PayPal by its business partners resulting from a user’s violation - considering all currently existing circumstances, including the relationship of the sum to the range of harm to PayPal that reasonably could be anticipated because, due to the nature of the violations of the Acceptable Use Policy, actual damages would be impractical or extremely difficult to calculate. PayPal may deduct such damages directly from any existing balance in any PayPal account you control.
And the Acceptable Use Policy states,

Prohibited Activities You may not use the PayPal service for activities that:...relate to transactions involving... (f) the promotion of hate, violence, racial or other forms of intolerance that is discriminatory
Now "the promotion of hate, violence, racial or other forms of intolerance that is discriminatory" can translate into what was ambiguously described as activities that:....." “Involve the sending, posting, or publication of any messages, content, or materials that, in PayPal’s sole discretion, (a) are harmful ... or objectionable … (e) depict, promote, or incite hatred or discrimination of protected groups or of individuals or groups based on protected characteristics (e.g. ... religion, gender or gender identity, sexual orientation, etc.) … or

It seems a lot of people must be canceling. Otherwise they would not have tried to reverse course.

They were trying out a social credit score. They and other companies and the democrat party will keep trying.
