PayPal Reverses Plan To Fine Users $2,500 For ‘Misinformation’ After Daily Wire Report
Daily Wire ^ | 10/8/2022 | Greg Wilson

A red-faced PayPal walked back a shocking new policy announcement that users who advance “misinformation” could face fines of $2,500 per offense, saying it was all a mistake after The Daily Wire called attention to the chilling scheme.

The financial services company, which has repeatedly deplatformed organizations and individual commentators for their political views, announced Saturday, one day after The Daily Wire story broke, that the announcement went out in error.

Who is getting fired? Is PayPal management pressing for criminal charges against hackers?

That is not a fine, that is robbery. The idiots would be facing prison time en masse.

Who would ever do business with a company who announces that they will steal from you whenever they feel like it?

These agreements appear to be able to updated to magically give every asset you own to the companies, if worded that way.

There's never been a practical limit to what companies can do with their one-way modifiable AUP contracts, because you agree to all updates they choose to make.

If they want their president to own your house, they can put that into the contract and any touch you make to them puts that in their scope.

These contracts are incredibly threatening.

Matters not. I decided long ago that PayPal is not trustworthy and nothing has happened to change my mind.

Apple Pay is an alternative but it’s adoption by sellers is not as wide spread. Personally, I’ve never had any use for PayPal.

Business can’t follow in the footsteps of politics. Politicians can afford to spout drivel and make threats - especially when they don’t have to worry about losing an election!

Business can’t afford to be that woke, however.

It’s really weird because almost every business that gets to be as big as Pay Pal starts with a great idea, right? There is a small handful of products/services that almost everyone realizes are just total BS, but most of the time, a business HAS to have a good idea or bye-bye money.

But where do the smarts go when the woke activists start pelting them with emails and filing BBB complaints, etc, because you’re committing the sin of making money with your good idea?

I’m still rather amazed to see how FREAKING COWARDLY most people are in the face of leftwad activism. You would think someone would realize that there’s no way to be woke and keep making $$$, and stand up to these pitiful f@gs, but so far it’s only been the few, the proud, the crazy capitalists like Trumpy.

You had a great idea, you fought for it, you bled for it, you lost sleep over it, you made sacrifices - and now you’re gonna fold for a bunch of whining weenies.

Exactly. Hopefully this will put a permanent dent in Paypal adoption and usage. Lessons need to be taught and learned.

I did the same, but the prohibition of firearm related purchases was the primary reason, and the censorship second.
Businesses which don’t respect the 1st and 2nd amendments don’t deserve my business!
