This is what happens when you have a city run by Marxists. The President of the United States of America just thumbed his nose at his life-long home state, announcing on Twitter yesterday that he and his family are officially changing their residence to Palm Beach, Florida:
Donald J. Trump ✔ @realDonaldTrump 1600 Pennsylvania Avenue, the White House, is the place I have come to love and will stay for, hopefully, another 5 years as we MAKE AMERICA GREAT AGAIN, but my family and I will be making Palm Beach, Florida, our Permanent Residence. I cherish New York, and the people of.....
Donald J. Trump ✔ @realDonaldTrump · 10h Replying to @realDonaldTrump ....New York, and always will, but unfortunately, despite the fact that I pay millions of dollars in city, state and local taxes each year, I have been treated very badly by the political leaders of both the city and state. Few have been treated worse. I hated having to make....
Donald J. Trump ✔ @realDonaldTrump ....this decision, but in the end it will be best for all concerned. As President, I will always be there to help New York and the great people of New York. It will always have a special place in my heart!
As if to prove the Presidents point about having been treated very badly by the political leaders of both the city and state, New Yorks thug Governor Andrew Sonny Cuomo responded by saying, Good riddance. Its not like Mr. Trump paid taxes here anyway. Hes all yours, Florida.
All of which is, of course, abject, smelly horse manure. Trump and his family have paid hundreds of millions of dollars in taxes to New York City and State over the decades under their confiscatory income tax laws, and the economic activity created by his business ventures there have generated billions for the city and state coffers. But, whatever Cuomos a Democrat and, as we saw on the floor of the House yesterday and every other day all over the news media, Democrat politicians lie as surely and as frequently as they draw breath.
In any event, the Presidents change of residency is emblematic of the general flight of the wealthy away from New York and its increasingly confiscatory tax regimes that feature top rates of 9% for the state income tax and 4% for the City income tax, along with high rates of property and sales taxes. Contrast that to Florida, where residents pay zero income tax and lower rates of both sales and property taxes. If you have wondered why vast swaths of Florida feature retirement communities occupied mainly by ex-New Yorkers, heres a clue: It isnt just about the difference weather.
The Trump address change announcement comes at a very interesting moment from a political standpoint, since we also found out yesterday that GOP Governor Ron DeSantis, a strong supporter of President Trump, is amazingly popular with the people:
Political Polls @Politics_Polls FLORIDA Gov. Ron DeSantis (R) Job Approval: Approve 72% Disapprove 17%
University of North Florida 10/14-20https://www.unf.edu/uploadedFiles/aa/coas/porl/FLStatewideGovernorPollwCross.pdf
Remember: DeSantis prevailed in his 2018 election bid by just 33,000 votes, according to the official count. Of course, we must remember that the Democrat election officials in highly-populated Broward and Palm Beach counties were in full voter fraud mode in that one, so a legal vote count would no doubt have shown a significantly larger victory for DeSantis.
But a 72% public approval rate, with only 17% disapproving? Not even the Florida Democrat vote-stealing machine can steal that many votes. An approval rating like that means that DeSantis is doing a hell of a job in his office, and that is very, very bad news for the Democrat chances to take the presidency away from Trump in 2020.
The Democrat Party has already basically lost the big state of Ohio for the foreseeable future, thanks in large part to its opposition to oil and gas production which has become a huge part of that states economy in the past decade and the Trump-led renaissance of manufacturing activity there. With Ohio out of the picture, there is no viable scenario under which the 2020 Democrat nominee regardless of which buffoon or Marxist the Party nominates can hope to get to 270 electoral votes without winning Florida.
There is no more important asset to a presidential campaign in a key state than having the help of a popular governor, and there is no more popular governor in America right now than Ron DeSantis. It probably wasnt a major motivating factor behind the Trump decision to change official residency, but that move, combined with DeSantiss popularity may make Florida too steep a hill for even the Democrat vote fraud machine to climb in 2020.
Cool.
That is all.
Thanks for wanting to continue screwing the many more millions of conservatives who benefited from the tax cuts who dont live in liberal hell holes. I am truly sorry your state officials screw you like they do. Your solution of continuing to spread your elected city and state officials misery nationwide is not the answer.
Is Bo Snerdley producing the show from NY or is he in Fla with Rush?
Where Palm tress grow, the rents are low, and you know I keep thinkin’ ‘bout makin’ my way back.........
I believe Bo is in Florida as well..................
And took his millions in taxes with him.
I hope his Presidential library gets locating in Florida as well, the major public Universities like UF, FSU, UCF, etc...all should compete to get it on their campus...
The students and administration, but I would love to see it located in Gainesville or Tallahassee
Except for the names and a few other changes my story’s the same one.
8^)................................
PDJT is changing his domicile. A person can have only one domicile but any number of residences.
We are VERY Happy to have President and Mrs Trump, our wonderful First Lady, as neighbors!
Smart move, as always.
Florida is a crucial swing state that is essential to any path to 270, whereas NY is almost a guaranteed loss.
Home state advantage is a very real thing for Presidential candidates, and President Trump just shifted that advantage to where it can really make a difference.
I happen to think he would have won Florida anyway, but maximizing the odds this way is a brilliant play.
This man is always thinking. And acting.
1. “The you should move!” Some of us can’t, or don’t want to. We have homes we built, businesses to run, elderly parents to take care of, children and grandchildren nearby. “””
I certainly get more than chapped over the comment-—
“Children & grandchildren nearby”.
1. If you are still being a helicopter parent, you didn’t do your job of raising YOUR kids right. They shouldn’t need you to still be hovering......
2. The USA doesn’t still use oxen & a covered wagon as transportation. We have faster methods of traveling to see each other.
Jobs are portable....If not your current position-—make a job for yourself— in a lower tax state. Businesses are portable unless you are in the business of MINING.
3. Even elderly can be relocated...I now a number of such that did just that.
Homes are for sale in other parts of the country...
With a screen name like yours, I would think ability to travel to have family a gettogether could be arranged.
Paying taxes in corrupt states just because you re afraid of what is on the other side of the mountain isn’t the right answer.
Because no New Yorker ever moved to FL.
“...Conservatives ... can just pound sand...?”
I live in New York State and am affected by the SALT tax deduction cap.
However, I do not blame the President, I blame the democrats in power who do not know how to run their states responsibly. They are the ones who own this, not our President. The tax cuts assume that the states are being run in a fiscally responsible manner, and many states are being run that way, which proves that is actually possible to do so.
Good to see that another wealthy New Yorker is bringing their money to Florida.
Like termites they infest their new homes.
Even if you were right about the tax cuts, focusing on a single issue as it affects you personally, is not the answer.
You need to look at the big picture:
What is President Trump trying to accomplish? Can he turn Washington DC on a dime, or is it likely to be a protracted battle? Is he a fighter? Is he a strategist?
All that considered, would Hillary Clinton have been a better choice?
Right. So what are you griping about?
Judging by who his enemies are, how powerful they are, and how determined they are to stop him - there is no doubt in my mind that he is pushing in the right direction.
He may not have drained the swamp yet, but it is obvious that he poses a significant threat to them - and that is wonderful.
Just wow. You know whats amazing? I dont even think you realize what a douche you are.
