Trump Moves to Florida, Where Taxes are Low and the Governor’s Approval is Sky-High
DB Daily Update ^ | David Blackmon

Posted on 11/01/2019 5:05:56 AM PDT by EyesOfTX

This is what happens when you have a city run by Marxists. – The President of the United States of America just thumbed his nose at his life-long home state, announcing on Twitter yesterday that he and his family are officially changing their residence to Palm Beach, Florida:

Donald J. Trump ✔ @realDonaldTrump 1600 Pennsylvania Avenue, the White House, is the place I have come to love and will stay for, hopefully, another 5 years as we MAKE AMERICA GREAT AGAIN, but my family and I will be making Palm Beach, Florida, our Permanent Residence. I cherish New York, and the people of.....

Donald J. Trump ✔ @realDonaldTrump · 10h Replying to @realDonaldTrump ....New York, and always will, but unfortunately, despite the fact that I pay millions of dollars in city, state and local taxes each year, I have been treated very badly by the political leaders of both the city and state. Few have been treated worse. I hated having to make....

Donald J. Trump ✔ @realDonaldTrump ....this decision, but in the end it will be best for all concerned. As President, I will always be there to help New York and the great people of New York. It will always have a special place in my heart!

As if to prove the President’s point about having been “treated very badly by the political leaders of both the city and state,” New York’s thug Governor Andrew “Sonny” Cuomo responded by saying, “Good riddance. It’s not like Mr. Trump paid taxes here anyway. He’s all yours, Florida.”

All of which is, of course, abject, smelly horse manure. Trump and his family have paid hundreds of millions of dollars in taxes to New York City and State over the decades under their confiscatory income tax laws, and the economic activity created by his business ventures there have generated billions for the city and state coffers. But, whatever – Cuomo’s a Democrat and, as we saw on the floor of the House yesterday and every other day all over the news media, Democrat politicians lie as surely and as frequently as they draw breath.

In any event, the President’s change of residency is emblematic of the general flight of the wealthy away from New York and its increasingly confiscatory tax regimes that feature top rates of 9% for the state income tax and 4% for the City income tax, along with high rates of property and sales taxes. Contrast that to Florida, where residents pay zero income tax and lower rates of both sales and property taxes. If you have wondered why vast swaths of Florida feature retirement communities occupied mainly by ex-New Yorkers, here’s a clue: It isn’t just about the difference weather.

The Trump address change announcement comes at a very interesting moment from a political standpoint, since we also found out yesterday that GOP Governor Ron DeSantis, a strong supporter of President Trump, is amazingly popular with the people:

Political Polls @Politics_Polls FLORIDA Gov. Ron DeSantis (R) Job Approval: Approve 72% Disapprove 17%

University of North Florida 10/14-20https://www.unf.edu/uploadedFiles/aa/coas/porl/FLStatewideGovernorPollwCross.pdf …

Remember: DeSantis prevailed in his 2018 election bid by just 33,000 votes, according to the official count. Of course, we must remember that the Democrat election officials in highly-populated Broward and Palm Beach counties were in full voter fraud mode in that one, so a legal vote count would no doubt have shown a significantly larger victory for DeSantis.

But a 72% public approval rate, with only 17% disapproving? Not even the Florida Democrat vote-stealing machine can steal that many votes. An approval rating like that means that DeSantis is doing a hell of a job in his office, and that is very, very bad news for the Democrat chances to take the presidency away from Trump in 2020.

The Democrat Party has already basically lost the big state of Ohio for the foreseeable future, thanks in large part to its opposition to oil and gas production – which has become a huge part of that state’s economy in the past decade – and the Trump-led renaissance of manufacturing activity there. With Ohio out of the picture, there is no viable scenario under which the 2020 Democrat nominee – regardless of which buffoon or Marxist the Party nominates – can hope to get to 270 electoral votes without winning Florida.

There is no more important asset to a presidential campaign in a key state than having the help of a popular governor, and there is no more popular governor in America right now than Ron DeSantis. It probably wasn’t a major motivating factor behind the Trump decision to change official residency, but that move, combined with DeSantis’s popularity may make Florida too steep a hill for even the Democrat vote fraud machine to climb in 2020.

Cool.

That is all.

If I remember right, from what Limbaugh was saying many years ago, NY will still come after you years later, legally saying that you still owe them. For Rush it was because he still worked there even though he didn’t live there, but they’ll find reasons for Trump too.

No problem. 1,000 illegals on welfare will make up the tax shortfall.

I guess the Conservatives of states that are left behind in New York, Connecticut, New Jersey, California, Rhode Island, Massachusetts, Illinois, Minnesota, and other states - who are screwed over by Trump's capping and eliminating deductions from his Tax Law - can just pound sand?

Thanks Mr. President. What happened to your promises that the Middle Class would get the "majority" of the tax cuts, and that "I will never raise taxes on the Middle Class."

Well, you did. For millions of us.

Most of the tax cuts went to corporations (35% to 21% slashing of rate), and you did raise taxes on millions in the Middle Class.

I know. I know. Here it comes:

1. "The you should move!" Some of us can't, or don't want to. We have homes we built, businesses to run, elderly parents to take care of, children and grandchildren nearby. I don't remember it being a GOP promise to "Destroy Families Through Taxes."

2. "Then get your local and state politicians to lower taxes!" Sure. I'll part the Red Sea while I am at it.

Enjoy your tax cuts Mr. President. And thanks!

He just moved a conservative family to swing-state Florida, from corrupt (and thus safe democrat) New York. I imagine the Swamp will add that election meddling to their list of impeachment considerations . . . along with his two scoops of ice cream.

Amazon was supposed to make up the shortfall (with payroll taxes in return for tax breaks); the mutants successfully opposed that.

I thought it was a pretty good idea *not* to make incentives for high tax states to keep their taxes high.

It is too bad they were incentivized to raise their state taxes for so long. It was clearly part of the Progressive plan.

For Rush it was because he still worked there even though he didn’t live there, but they’ll find reasons for Trump too.

Most states are like that. Work in Missouri but live in Kansas? Missouri taxes you, along with Kansas. Work in Kansas City but live elsewhere? Kansas City taxes you.

So long as Trump Organization is headquartered in NYC Trump will pay New York taxes.

I remember Governor Paterson tangling with Rush; that was a huge tax loss for NY when Rush simply picked up and left. In a foreshadowing of how mobile tech has made many jobs, it was obvious that since it was a RADIO show, the microphone could be set up ANYWHERE.

NY (state and city) were pressing the federal government to allow bailed-out banks to pay bonuses to employees (directly from taxpayer funds into their pockets) because they were so dependent on the income taxes on those bonuses. I live next door in NJ, where the departure of our wealthiest resident a few years ago (David Tepper, a fund manager) caused the state to revise its budget mid-year - they were that dependent on the taxes on ONE PERSON.

I know that my taxes were HIGHER last year and our INCOME WAS LESS than the year before. So much for a tax cut. My taxes have been higher every year since he came into office. I keep looking for a tax cut, but it ain't come yet. None of my income has taken much of a raise. Our socialized security checks did not rise much, yet my so called representative in the US socialized government got his nice raise of thousands of $$$$ over these last few years and I got nickels and a few pennies. Not much to help on all those utility bills that keep going up, up, UP!!!! EVERY bill that we have to pay has risen every year in the past 10 years!!!!!!!! NONE OF THEM has stayed the same or gone down. NONE!!!!

"Cuomo responded by saying, “Good riddance. It’s not like Mr. Trump paid taxes here anyway. He’s all yours, Florida.” "

Hey cuomo, you stupid? if President Trump owns real estate in NY, he's paying TOO MUCH taxes. Maybe, you, cuomo should start paying some, any, taxes. Let's see your taxes.

NYC is so %^&$ up when it comes to RE taxes. You don't pay taxes on actual rents received, but what the bureaucrats say your rental income should be.

NYC owes President Trump a refund on overpaid taxes.

He did lower the tax rates on the middle class but they got rid of the personal exemptions though they did increase the standard deductions which compensated for the loss of the personal exemptions. My itemized deductions never went above 12k for me anyway so the 24k(this next year 26k) standard deduction with my loss of the personal exemptions last year ended up being a wash.

Well I don’t know where your living but my federal taxes did fall though we lost the personal exemptions....that was the little detail that caught most by surprise. My utilities have stayed flat for 15 years but I do attribute that to the ongoing switchovers to more energy efficient appliances and lighting (cfls and now to LED lighting which are extremely energy efficient and with many color temps available). Energy costs per watt and per btu may have gone up but the energy efficiencies have kept my total energy costs for a 2000 square foot house an average of 195 dollars or less /month combined gas/electric for the past 15 years.

As a self employed small business owner all I have to say is too damn bad. I’ve been an S corp for decades getting screwed year after year, paying all the same taxes as you’re bitching about on top of any profits my business makes added to mine. I went C corp last year and for once I am only getting soaked 21% instead of 35%, just like hundreds of thousands of other small businesses across the country. Larger companies, who don’t have a vote in things but have to pay? Reinvestment, employment, wages, it’s what makes the big wheel spin. I’m not mad about the tax cuts, I’m just mad about the failure to reduce spending, THAT is what is going to sink us soon.

Two scoops...that sums up liberals’ level of maturity, and why the Dem party is where it is now - without a prayer in 2020.

SMART. The NY Dems would hound him for the rest of his life, and then hound his kids. While they’ll still do that for a while, over the long term it will get harder and harder, as various Statutes of Limitations (Statues of Limitations, for those of you in Rio Linda) run out.

Added Bonus: Trump’s family can now easily attend Rush’s many parties there!

Welcome to Florida President Trump. The only problem I see is you move to the wrong side of the state.
