I recieved a complete your application form in the mail today for a Barclaycard Visa credit card. Never heard of them and never applied. They want a original utility bill with address to verify my address. The letter has no phone number,no Internet site, and no street address.Just a P.O. box in Delaware. Anybody ever hear of this company or had dealings with them?
Barclay has a rep to be one of the harder cards to get. Oft, when people are figuring they'll get one offer, that is reserved for those with near excellent credit, then the company offers you a card with much less to offer.
Plenty of websites detailing the different cards, what they offer and level of credit required.
Do your own homework and choose the right card for YOU.
NOT just because someone sent you an app.
It’s possible he is in the process of becoming a victim of identity theft. Throwing it away and ignoring it is the last thing he wants to do.
He needs to contact the bank and find out what the heck is going on.
He should also pull a copy of his credit report to see if there is any other unexpected activity.
Freeze your credit. It’s easy and free from two of the three reporting agencies.
I have one credit card - a Visa. Enough!
Barclay Bank is a legitimate company; I have a Barclay Visa card.
If you are not certain about this application, look at the fine print on it and the return address—these should tell you if the application came from Barclay’s or from some scammer. If you suspect identity theft, the sooner you find out, the better.
If you actually want to get one of their cards, they have a legitimate website and phone number that you can find and use to contact them.
The best thing is to shred the application. Sometimes, companies send a card with a number on it, my own personal application card. I cut those up (they will jam my shredder) and then throw the pieces away gradually, never putting them all in the same trash bag. I want to make sure the information on the card cannot be recreated.
I would not reply. Unless it includes a postage paid envelope. Then I would send it back full of blank paper.
I don’t reply to any financial offer that I receive.
I have one of their cards, which was offered to me through a hotel rewards program that I use a lot. It came with a much better interest rate than my old card, plus I get hotel points for using it. I’m very satisfied with them. Oth, as others have pointed out, the offer you received may not actually be from them.
Barclay’s Bank handles financing for Apple - I used their Visa credit card to get no interest financing for my IMac and again for my iPad. They also do other merchant branded credit cards for other companies such as L. L. Bean.
that bank is run by a prince in niger. for just a small sum to tide him over, he will gladly pay you a million dollars in 6 months
I had a Barclay Bank/LLBean Visa and was just issued a Jet Blue Master Card through Barclay. They’re for real. American Express discontinued their Jet Blue Card and Barclay took over. I don’t use either one.
We have a Barclay card, but it’s a reward card affiliated with LLBean, and you get reward coupons toward buying LLBean clothes. It was really nice to have when the kids were little and we needed sturdy shoes and clothes for them.
If you really want a credit card, go online to one of those credit card comparison sites and you may get a better offer than this shady one you got in the mail.
Whatever you do, don’t send a utility bill. Don’t apply for that card.
Postal fraud is a serious crime. I suspect they will disappear soon to avoid arrest.
They used to send actual credit cards. I think that was stopped by law. I wouldn’t apply for something sent to me. Go online if you wish to apply and find them.
You probably got it - the application - because you inquired about financing an Apple product. I have one but I only use it for Apple purchases because of the rules associated with the financing.
I have one of their cards.
I would go online and find their credit card department, give them a ring and see if this is even legit of if this is a scam.
Yeah, I got a Home Depot credit and it’s issued by Barclays.
I also have a BarclaysUS savings account and they offer pretty good rates.
I received an actual credit card in the mail recently, with a $100,000.00 limit- all I had to do (supposedly) was call and activate it. I kept it around long enough to show my wife for a laugh, then watched as she gleefully destroyed it.
