According to ABC News, "no plumbing permits have been pulled in any of the five cities where the stores were suddenly closed for at least six months."

Wow! AllButNews actually did some *investigative* reporting. I'm shocked!

Maybe they can go find 0bie's transcripts, now.

I am moving close to a Walmart this year. I am in love with it! I am a cook who loves ethnic foods and because this Walmart is in an Indian/Asian neighborhood, the stock of unusual items is outstanding. I’ve never used Walmart before and I’m fast becoming addicted to them.

Closed for a plumbing problem must the the Walmart equivalent of a restaurant’s “closed for remodeling”.

I’d bet they haven’t even gotten A/Es putting out bid specs yet. So pulling
permits is a bit premature. JMO.

Refurbishment could be the reason...or teaching filthy leftists a lesson could be.Either way I see no problem here. Why is it again that Boeing wants to produce its airplane of the future, the 787,in SC rather than Seattle?

There is a discussion in the comments section that these properties are going to be used by FEMA to house immigrant children.

Unlikely.

It would be so much simpler, cheaper and less, uh, visible to convert a fraction of the empty office, retail and manufacturing space into federal daycare facilities.

I’ve designed and worked on pilot systems and prototypes. As a general rule, its a good idea to spread out the test sites, especially when preparing for a national rollout. One would think that a company of this size would have spent some time and effort preparing for such and would have done a better job with its change management program to prepare employees for new ways of doing business. That’s just good business practices. The apparent sudden nature of these closings is either gross incompetence or a sudden reaction to something.

It’s amazing how Walmart is in so many countries; in some places under a different name.

China, Nigeria, South Africa.

If that’s true then they would be opening up new sections devoted to EBT,WICs and SNAP selections ONLY where the leech could get in and out in a dash - no waiting behind those pesky people who work for a live.

That is those people who are impeding their daily progress around 10:30 - 11:00AM when they like to shop after having visited the nearest Starbucks. Any earlier than then upsets their delicate psyches.

I read a lot of comments here from folks who definitely do not have a clue about what happened or why. Livingston, Tx was one of the stores closed. My sister in law worked there for 20 years. 90% of the workers there were part time. They were kept under 40 hrs a week on purpose. Why do you think they needed 220 workers for one store? The plumbing problem was 1 problematic urinal in the restroom. No plumbing or other permits have been issued by the county. I’m not sure about the other stores but have heard no permits were issued there either. This particular store had a full parking lot except during the night, so plenty of income. There was no union push here so that can be taken out of the equation. Deliveries to the store only stopped 3 days before closure. Tons of groceries were donated to local charities. Now with these facts in place, and keeping in mind WM’S business model, some of the conspiracy theories don’t seem too outlandish.

I know for fact, that one of the WalMarts being closed is a bonifide ghetto mart.

Hookers, druggies, and strip joints surround it.

I assumed the plumbing issue was guns and needles clogging the pipes.

If Whole Foods had announced that it was temporarily closing five stores for plumbing problems, no one would have said a word.
