My Bathroom, My Choice: (or Where Should I Piss, Cis?)

Here in Charlotte, UNCC has adopted a new policy about going to the bathroom. As NBC Charlotte reports:

... the University of North Carolina-Charlotte campus now allows transgender students, faculty and staff to use the restroom of their choice.

This is a distinct policy change that was quietly slipped in under the radar. Previously, persons who are transgender had the option of using one of several gender neutral bathrooms on campus, or the bathroom designated for their physical birth gender. (Otherwise known as "their gender.")

"It's like kind of weird to see a dude go in a girl's bathroom and you know it's a dude," Shannon Brown said.

Though campus reaction is mixed according to the report, there can be little doubt that social justice advocates and the LGBTETC. community will hail this as a triumph for trans rights or a blow to the heteronormative patriarchal hegemonic council of demonic overlords, or whatever they call straight people these days. The policy will surely spark arguments and speculative debate, both online at blogs like this, and in person at the campus itself.

There are many aspects of the policy that can be discussed, but I want to address one that, frankly, just annoys the everloving cis out of me. There is an aspect of the argument for allowing trans individuals to use the bathroom of their choice that is just blindingly, obviously self-defeating

The fact is, the basic premise of the argument for the trans person using the bathroom of their choice is so that they don’t feel uncomfortable mixing with the “other” gender. That is the EXACT argument for them NOT using it. Why does the discomfort of one outweigh the discomfort of many?

Typical privileged white heterosexual question. This is why white heterosexuals cannot be trusted with leadership roles. They are just innately unable to see the real issues plaguing the unprivileged. This won't end until white heterosexuals all attend one of Hillary's Adult Play Camps and finally learn some humility.
