Obama: Is he irrelevant, or an advocate for Iran-backed terror?
Even as President Obama gave his State of the Union address to the joint chambers of Congress Tuesday night, another domino was falling in Irans line-up of nation-state influence.
Yemens leadership was on the brink of capitulation just as Obama was gloating over a failed foreign policy as being effective. Others have already pointed out how facts of Yemen and Somalias chaos contradict the presidents previous glorying in those states as testaments of his policys success. His idea as to what qualifies as success appear to deviate from that of most Americans.
As of now, Irans sway in Lebanon is further verified with the death of one of their generals in an Israeli air strike against Hezbollah in the Golan Heights. Syrias Bashar al-Assad hangs onto power only because of the Shiite support of Iran and their underling, Hezbollah. Yemen is now in the grip of Iran-backed Houthi rebels while Saudi-supported southern Sunnis try to wriggle free from Sanaa.

The Iranian mullahs would have far less leverage in Yemen were it not for the equal meddling by the Saudis in favor of their Yemeni Sunni friends constantly seeking dominance and marginalization of the Yemeni Shia. It’s a two way street, and Yemen is a two way proxy war venue where the general population is the victim of diametrically opposed sectarian interests spanning the region.
