Iran tested more missiles in the Gulf on Thursday, state media said, and the United States reminded Tehran that it was ready to defend its allies.

The United States, which accuses Tehran of seeking nuclear arms, said after Iran test-fired nine missiles on Wednesday that there should be no more such tests if Iran wanted the world's trust. An intelligence official in Washington said there had been a second test and that it was small.

U.S. leaders have not ruled out military options if diplomacy fails to assuage fears about Iran's nuclear program, which Tehran says is only to produce electricity.

U.S. leaders have not ruled out military options if diplomacy fails to assuage fears about Iran's nuclear program, which Tehran says is only to produce electricity.

Diplomacy in the face of Iranian duplicity can do nothing to assuage fears which even a simple openness on the part of the Iranian government could easily dissipate. Iranian government intransigence belies their protestations of an innocent electrical production capability. Couple this with threats to exterminate Israel as a people or a state and you have a solid base FOR FEAR.

I'll bet the mullahs were miffed that their earlier missile test didn't spook the oil futures market but the one today seems to have done the trick.

Iran can continue to cry wolf ad nauseum but the day will come when no one listens when the wolf comes to eat them.
