We all have our memories and thoughts of that not so long ago day, 9/11. Today is another anniversary, and yes, the 13th isn't somehow as memorable as the 10th, or the 15th. On 9/11/2001, Free Republic lost two wonderful people, Barbara Olson and John Moran. While the events of that date fade into history, it is important that we never forget the people involved. Free Republic is many things, but above all it is a community of those who cherish and hold dear a set of core beliefs, values, and principles.
And it is thus right and proper that we remember and honor "our own" who lost their lives on that fateful day 13 years ago.
"A Personal Remembrance of Barbara K. Olson"
I thought perhaps some might enjoy reading it again, and remembering. And for those here on FR since that time, it's a chance to learn something about a remarkable lady.
Here is the link to the FR thread about John Moran:
FDNY Battalion Chief John Moran (FReeper BCM) perishes in World Trade Center
Both of you are missed, and remembered.
I will never forget.
RIP Beautiful Barbara Olsen and Brave Battalion Chief John Moran. You are missed.
9/11 still p*sses me off beyond all measure. Our Government has failed us. GREATLY.
However, prayers up for these Freepers, and more prayers up that this never happens again.
Never, EVER forget.
Thank you. I was thinking about this early today. Heartbreaking...
NEVER FORGET!
Semper Vigilo, Fortus, Paratus, et Fidelis
RIP Barbara and John.
By the way, considering "reporting on all the insider stuff about the Clintons...( and believe me, there was also a lot of stuff I couldn't post)," has enough time passed that it is now time? If she runs, we'd love to attend your Author's Day at the Chappaqua Public Library.
May they be remembered forever.
I will never forget!
God Bless them, along with all lost that day, and hold them in your light forever, in your Son’s we pray Amen
I remember.
I remember that horrible day and losing 2 great Freepers. Never forget!!!
I was 13 in 2001, so this is an important anniversary for me.
September 11th, 2001 was half my life ago
Prayers for our departed FRiends
FR is one big, panoramic, ongoing history book....and you are one of our most informative, sensitive and engrossing historians. Thanks for all you contribute to these pages.

I remember Ken, we were all here. What a time, and it was very comforting to have FR come together around this time of grief.
I was lurking here....signed up shortly afterwards, my screen name reflecting that day.
I was at work - then 39 years old...I was in my office - heard it from a co worker...nothing on drudge....FR was my info hub...I can recall the whole shop in the cafeteria watching tv for about an hour...even as the second plane hit
It had been a lovely bright clear day...almost too blue of a sky....not a plane in it...I mentioned to the kids remember this day...they'll not likely see a plane-less sky again....They were about 9 & 10 then.....
My pals wife was in NJ working at the hospital..looking across the river, she could see people jumping....
Remembering Barbara, John, and the thousands of other souls murdered that day, and the agonies their loved ones must have suffered since, and the horrors visited on this nation and the world by a mongrel breed of seventh-century savages who long ago forfeited their right to be called human.
