While the title says it all, I thought a goodbye was in order.
While I've been a FReeper for well over a decade, I must declare that it is time to part ways. While I have the greatest respect for a great many of you, the days where I can in good conscience remain silent about the issues that set me apart from the rest of FReeperdom have past. For clarity, or perhaps catharsis, I'm not entirely certain which, I'll lay them out on the table an call the ZOT™ down upon myself.
The racism: I just can't handle it anymore. FR has become increasingly racist since President Obama took office, and enforcement has dropped. Now, not a single crime can be reported with an "amish" comment, and I've yet to see a post express embarrassment or shame when lo and behold sometimes the perpetrators turned out to be lily white.
Homosexuality: FR is on the wrong side of history on this one, and I'll just leave it at that.
Mostly though, it's the hate. More and more posts reference violent solutions to political disagreements. Some subtly couched, others make no pretense. I wouldn't be surprised at all if I read in the morning paper that a FReeper murdered a federal bureaucrat or a federal judge.
I've learned so much, from so many of you, and for that I'm grateful. I genuinely and truly wish all of you well, and sincerely hope you all live out the rest of your lives in happiness.

They need to fear getting in our faces, because they do not at the moment.
They need to know that if they use ad hominem attacks on us (as logically fallacious as they are, they are successful) so we will use ad hominem attacks on them.
They need to know that it will no longer be one or two at every setting that they surround and ridicule to shame but that they will be surrounded anytime they begin their Alinksky tactics to push communism down our throats.
As another poster said, this country is at war for the soul and future of America. These are nasty times. It is not for the faint of heart.
The time for trying to get along with our enemies is long gone. They showed us what a foolish tactic that was.
It's in the Book. That's the way it will be. Yes or no, never maybe.

Evidently, you don't know much history, or have at least simply failed to learn anything from it on this topic.
Homosexuality destroys all that it touches -- it starts with the heart and soon takes over the mind. It is a self-destructive mental illness, a form of clinical depression, immersed in pathological self-loathing, even as history has repeatedly shown, and it always will be.
Perhaps it already has addled your mind and rendered you ill.

The amish comment was once directed at the crimes or abominations perpetrated by muslims in the name of allah.
Mainly because the press would never name the religion, or name, of the perp.
The term has been hijacked to fill in for inner city thugs.

I abhor political correctness, euphemisms and the misuse of language. I make a point to never use the term "gay" when applicable to homosexuality. The traditional meaning of the word (cheerful, joyful and merry) have been misappropriated by the sodomite lobby.
Similarly the use of "Amish" (though it's used in a tongue in cheek sense here on FR) is likewise off base. For the most part, the actual Amish are law-abiding, hard-working people who may annoy some when behind one of their slow-moving buggies. But sullying those mostly good people, even in jest with a wink and nod, by using that term as code is the height of being politically correct in our language. Can we not be honest and use the term black, white, Mexican, Asian or whatever is apt when it applies to feral thugs? And when the Amish turn a city into a shooting gallery as black gangs did this weekend in Chicago, let me know.
It is overwehlmingly true that it is almost always correct that the race guessed at or figured out by certain clues and facts of the story, it ain’t racism.
The racists are the blacks targeting whites on purpose because the blacks themselves believe whites are less likely to be carrying a gun, especially in gun-free areas.
Most of the time these comments are made when it is clear by details in the story what’s what. That’s not racism.
DOJ crime stats confirm what we are seeing in these stories. White on white crime is hardly the problem. It’s generally not what we’re dealing with. It’s black on black, black vs mexican, illegals murdering us citizens, etc. It makes the papers because that’s who is committing the crimes.
We don’t make stuff up out of thin air. But when you see a Latrell, a Lamont, a Loquisha, a Shantell, Shaquika, or Roshandra, it isn’t racism to assume the criminal is a black person. It would be ignoring common sense. Same as if they identify it occurring on Martin Luther King Boulevard in any city, USA.
But hey, whatever, you have your reasons. Many people here are just tired because we have a DOJ that does not prosecute criminals for “hate crimes” if they are black, they let the Black Panthers have free reign to intimidate voters while armed, they cover for their “brothers” but hang whitey because after all, everything wrong in the black community somehow, one way or the other, is because of the white man.

I can tell you why. Racism in this country has mushroomed in the last four years, led on by none other than our communist in chief. It’s not just one race either. It has mushroomed in whites, blacks, Latin’s and everybody in between. The man who claimed he was going to bring every one together has done just the opposite.

Claiming we are “on the wrong side of history” is about the most pointless argument one can make to a roomful of conservatives, whether you’re right or not. For if “conservative” means anything, and maybe it doesn’t, it means to stand athwart history. That is, at least in defense of some things. If not the equal esteem and promotion of homo- and heterosexuality, still some things. As such, blanket arguments in favor of the zeitgeist fall on deaf ears.
I was also in the Townhall.com chat room under a different screen name and I remember Melas as a "moderate" who often disagreed with conservatives. He has finally revealed his true colors on FR. I often wondered what happened to all the other people I knew on Townhall.com chat.
Many have come here, and many have gone. And very few of those who left have been exhibitionists treating us to their posturing opera! (I can dig this plural of ‘opus’)
I also think we should have a "junior freepers section" for some of the more juvenile members.

Because the press often never directly identifies the race of the criminal as well. But in almost all of these stories, you can generally figure it out by names, or other information. Sometimes people post the same story but from another news agency and they have a picture or other identifying info the original story didn’t.

I’m going to miss you, your are a voice of reason snd compromise here. I know it is tough, in my case, of being libertarian and/or a Barry Goldwater type (or South Park) of conservative. One thing I do fear is the tyranny of the left but I’m also afraid of a tyranny from something akin to an American version of a Taliban. I have very conservative views myself and I do believe in God and religion but it is something for each of us to find their own way and it cannot, nor should not, be pushed on society by the power of the gun. If we feel the left should not to that, we should hold ourselves to the same standard. I think we need to stress responsibility and accountability too.
